ROMLIST Releases GunLock! - November 14, '99 by JoseQ
Update: It seems that all mirrors for the file from ROMLIST, including the local to EmuViews have corrupt files. I didn't acknowledge the problem at first because Raine loaded the file fine, and had no complaints. However, Raine doesn't check CRC for the files it loads. So this would basically have the same effect as a "NO GOOD DUMP KNOWN" error in MAME. The game will run, but may have some errors due to errors in the ROM files. I've e-mailed Org, and we'll try to come up with a good file which I will post here as soon as I get it. In the meantime, just download if you're aware of the possible errors and don't mind them. I played the game and it looked fine to me. The error could be a single byte in each of the two files reporting the error, and that could mean an out of color pixel, while it could also mean a wrong number in the wrong place which could crash the emulator. The best solution would be to wait for a good file.
Org2 has released "Gun Lock" at ROMLIST. This was one of the games hidden in Raine for quite a while now but the ROMs were not available until today. Visit Org's site and start your download as it weighs in at 7.3MBs. The game is also now available locally at the Raine ROMs Lite Page for download (along with the screenshots and rating screen). Remember, you need to add a line like this: "[romlist]" followed by "gun_lock = 86420" to the raine.cfg file in order for the game to be selectable. Enjoy!

Subject: Problems with Gunlock..(it does not recognize it)
I follow all the instructions (write the [romlist] and gun_lock = 86420
but, raine says that it has now 153 instead of 152 games listed, but it doesn't recognize it (just say that the game is not supported)
Can you explain me with apples and lemons what to do, please???
Thanks

An earlier release namely P47aces has the same problem. Since I've got the feeling being a jaleco msys game, it gets emulated soon enough, would be nice to have
p47-09.bin

available as a separate download as well.
Cheers anyone, and have fun with Raine!!!

P47 Aces is a megasystem-32 game... quite different hardware, with a cpu not currently in raine... As the name implies, megasystem-32 is mainly 32-bit hardware (like f3-system).

Good to know it's not used, but will be, when f3 will have sound :-)
So all the craze would be like weith neogeo soundfixes... It's easier to have the correct set right away.
BTW just checked:
raine -romcheck gunlock
does report d66-01 as bad, the rom loader itself does not.

Subject: Bad roms...
The zip is corrupt, but since the game loads, these corrupt roms are not yet used (sample roms and sound cpu roms are not loaded)...

The d34-xx.rom files are not even part of gun lock, so you should remove them!

Check the rom list:

raine -listinfo gunlock

The d34-xx.roms are for a certain football game, but they were left on the gun lock board, so aracorn dumped them too... :)

The rom d66-01.rom is an OTIS sample rom, so it's not loaded during the game yet...

Check the rom archive:

raine -romcheck gunlock

Subject: Secret games
Wasn't "Grid Seeker" supposed to be a secret game hidden along with "Gun Lock" in this release? I found I had the code for it (13579) already entered into my .cfg along with the code for "Gun Lock". I vaguely remember these codes being released a while back, but now I can't remember if "Grid Seeker" was ever released. I'd assume not, since Psychochild was asking about it in an earlier post. Any help here?

So it is corrupt. I guess it was uploaded like that, but like IF says, it does work with Raine, so until a good dump is found, you can use that to play.

Just test the zipfiles integrity with winzip (shift-t) or pkunzip -t, like I said...

You could make screenshots because - for my surprise as well - Raine does not check for errors when uncompressing a zip.

Or if you can't test just try to decompress it.
Yes, the game works, but a few bytes are sure to be bad, which means no good at all. Corrupt program, graphics whatever when it comes to those nasty bytes. That's it. Hope this explains.

JoseQ,
Would you maybe make a list or post a collection of all the games that
are hidden in RAINE with there *.cfg add on script? I know the guys at
RAINE like them hidden but we all know that they are not really hidden,
they are add-ons. If you could put everyone up to date as to what is
really supported and how to run them, it would be really great! Since
they usually post the "hidden" games anyway and you've been posting the
hints, why not make a list for all of us that have either lost count or
just missed one or two.

Just wishing....

Unfortunately all the zips on the mirrors are corrupted, including the one on your site. Just test the zipfiles integrity with winzip (shift-t) or pkunzip -t...

corrupt parts are:
d34-02.rom
d66-01.rom

Sent them a letter, but your words may worth more :-)

Including the one on my site?

That wouldn't explain how I took the screenshots.
I've tested it (downloaded again from my site) and it worked.

I put the lines in my config file, but I don't "Gun Lock" to open up....

I do, however, get a game called "Grid Seeker" to open up. Looks like someone copied down the wrong number on ROMLIST. ;)
