M-72 Hits the Streets! - September 26, '98 by JoseQ
A new emulator has surfaced! This time not from a newcomer but from an experienced programmer known to us all as Nao or Li Jih Hwa! Yes, the author behind the System16 wheel, has now released a new emulator capable of playing games not even available in MAME. You can download M72 from our Emulators Page right now.
The emulator only plays 5 games at the moment, but it does so which so grace and finesse you have to play it to believe it. One of the games is R-type (jp) which has been one of my all time favorite shooter and was playable in RAGE since long time ago. What is different though, is that this emulator brings it to life with the full sound available in the machine. This emulator emulates the full sound hardware found in those IREM coin-ops.
The other games playable are: Ninja Spirit, Legend of Hero Tonma, Battle Choppers and Image Fight. All of these games are available at our ROMs Section.
Other features included in this emulator are Save States! Great thing that Nao did this from the start. Screenshot capability. Vertical synchronization which is great for scrolling games. Unfortunately Scanlines are not yet supported, by I suspect they will be soon. Congrats to Nao on this great achievement. Finally, thanks to all the contributors of this Emulator which are mentioned!
