Don't you feel the urge sometimes to fire up R-type
on your favorite SMS emulator? How about Vigilante on the
PC-Engine emulator? Sometimes we have a favorite version
of a game that's simply not the original one, maybe because
of that feeling of Nostalgia, where you remember how much
you'd enjoy the cool Out Run music on your Commodore 64.
Sometimes we just need to remember those good old games,
and the good old home conversions.
|Something before Emulation? - September 28, '98 by JoseQ
Before Emulation, we had to settle for the home versions
of our favorite games. A new site on the internet, with
desire to document the variants of favorite arcade game
conversions is Classic Gaming Conversions. This site features pictures of some old
games like Out Run, R-type, Space Harrier and others,
running on those old platforms like the Amiga, C64, Atari ST
and a lot of other consoles or computers that used to be
your only solution to your gaming needs. I suggest you take
a look and you'll smile when you see the differences
between the various versions of the games.
I find sometimes, that playing the Sega Genesis version
of Strider, even though Callus and MAME play the original
game, is as much fun as playing the original. I think because
MAME doesn't bring only the fun of the game, but the good
feeling of those good'ol times when you were younger. I
suggest you take a look at the above mentioned site, then
fire up those good and fast SMS, Genesis, SNES emulators
and have some fun like you used to in the yesteryears, you will probably enjoy it just as much.
