Received a note today from Walter Day, big guy at Twin Galaxies, telling me about the Classic Video Game World Championship taking place at the end of the month in New Hampshire. You can read the complete press release by clicking here. This tournament lasts four days, starting on May 31st and will require players to compete on seven different games. Among them: "Donkey Kong", "Qix", "Joust", "Robotron" and others. On Sunday, a champion will be crowned. Can you attend? Maybe it'll be you! Check out the press release for all the details.

No offense intended to anyone involved, but wow! I think four days of Donkey Kong, Qix, and Joust would drive me off the deep end. I couldn't imagine playing modern arcade games for more than two hours, let alone 20 year-old ones for 96 (well, sort of). Not to say that there is an inherent higher quality to newer games, but damn they're at least a bit more stimulating!

Yjays because your a casual gamer, and u can't play old games worth a damn. Then again your probally sat on a wall with a cheap bottle of thunderbird 4 more then 5 hours, and any normal person would find that boring...

Too many new games are more like movies than games.

For pure stimulation nothing beats Robotron.

Unless you've experienced the zen-like state that some classic games can bring about, you wouldn't understand.
