The Rumor Mill - June 24, '99 by JoseQ
Well, better late than never, right? I was too busy yesterday, and the MAME release obviously took some time away from my schedule, but who's complaining? We got 6 new games, not to mention Slapstic fixings that enabled already supported games into working better. It was an awesome release, and kudos to Nicola and the gang just for that. But if it's Rumors you're looking for, you've found the right place, as I will tell you some of the info Team Spy has gotten just for me.
Well, the first feathered member of Team Spy already got me the info for the Rumor Mill regarding HiVE being on hold for a while, so if you read anticupid's Rumor ReView, you already know about that, but just thought I would remind you. So expect the next release to be quite some time away, and of course, you can count on me to rumorize as soon as I find out it's coming back.
Speaking on fast emulators, I've heard from my Retrocade dedicated bird, that a new feature coming soon to this emulator is screen rotation. And you know how these guys always like to do it in a nice way, my bird is almost certain that it saw the screen rotation happening on the fly. That is certainly a feature that many people will enjoy.
On what is definitely a more interesting topic for those of you who like newer games, I finally got one of my spies to find the Sega System32 emu hidden base, and some new info surfaced right away. It seems that the emulator has been making good progress as my spy got a glimpse of the character selection screen on "Golden Axe 2". The author seems to be working on the controller functionality now. Something you will not be surprised to know is that with instruction interpretation, the emulator will perform rather slowly. Dynamic Recompilation is a possibility with this emulator, but it will most likely not be implemented until further iterations of the emulator.
Well, that is probably it for now, since many of my birds came home with a 'no progress' sign hanging from their necks. And who writes those signs I ask myself... Anyways, get ready for an interesting rest of the week, and more than likely, one hell of a weekend. One last short rumor... InterViews are making a comeback!
