Enduro Racer - August 27, '99 by Max Diablo
Game:Enduro RacerCompany:Sega
Type:RacingPlayers:1

Sega has made some great check-point hopping games, such as Out Run and Hang-On, but Enduro Racer does not rank up with these. Once again we have a case of all graphics, no game.
This game is just not that fun. You're on a speed-bike, but you wouldn't be able to tell the way you putter along. Last time I checked, racing is about going fast, not slow.
As for the controls, they respond, but you will constantly find yourself fighting to stay on the track once you get to about round two due to the bikes rather odd inability to turn. Bikes are supposed to do 360's on a dime, but not your klunker.
Now come the part that really annoys me, the sound and music. When I play a racing game, I want more sound then a pathetic murmur of an engine. If the windows aren't shaking, I'm not impressed. Then there is the rather slow, boring music. Music sometimes is what makes a racing game. What fun is to go screaming around corners, or putting around them in this case, to something that sounds like a lullaby?
The only thing going for this game is the graphics, which are pretty dang good for 1987. The colors are bright, and a lot of the objects are nicely detailed. Still, this does not save the game from being very boring.
