Ninja Gaiden by Eazy Cheeze
Game:Ninja GaidenCompany:Tecmo
Type:FightingPlayers:One or Two

The premise of this arcade game goes like this: You are a Ninja. Your peers were the finest assassins in ancient Japan. However, some Ninjas work in secret now, and even in the U.S. One of these Ninjas was your father.
While hunting down a vicious criminal in the cold rain of a summer night's storm, your father was killed in the line of duty, but managed to bring down his mark as well. You join the story looking for revenge for your father's death.
Along the way you fight many enemies. Some look like the one whom your father killed; others have weapons; still others are as quick on their feet and as strong as you are. You cannot destroy large objects (oil drums, phone booths, etc.) that you run into yourself; you just flip off of them. You must toss an enemy into them. They usually contain a point bonus, and sometimes a weapon power-up. You can swing from poles overhead and kick your enemies too.
This game was later made into a completely original game for the 8-bit NES, which went on to spawn two more games for that system. It is one of the most popular game trilogies for the NES, and a SNES "collection" cartridge has even been made, with enhanced graphics and sound.
I thought this was an excellent game. Graphics are excellent, and they support the new 16-bit color depth feature of MAME, which is always a plus. Sound, according to the README.TXT, is partial, but it sounds complete to me, and with the music now within my hearing, it's better than ever. Gameplay is excellent, as outlined above.
