Rampage - 20081999120000 by Shadow Lord
Game:RampageCompany:Bally Midway
Type:PlatformPlayers:1/3

Let's face it: wholesale destruction and havoc is downright fun, especially in arcade games. One of Activision's best titles in the 80s was the three- player smashfest Rampage. Rampage is as simple as it is fun: you are a mutant monster (in the spirit of Godzilla) who is running amok in downtown cities all over the globe. Your mission is to pulverize the city into rubble. Of course, the humans are pulling out all the stops with soldiers, tanks, and helicopters all coming to end your rampage once and for all. Along the way, you can eat both soldiers and hapless bystanders to increase your health, grab a young woman and carry her around like Fay Wray as you scale the buildings, and smash cars, boats, buses and trains as you pound the city into oblivion.
The real innovation with Rampage was the multi-player element. Like its Atari contemporary "Gauntlet," several people can get in on the fun. However, unlike "Gauntlet," the players do not necessarily have to cooperate: they can try to kill each other as well! This was the kind of game I remember playing not to beat it, but because it was just a fun little escape.
