Well guys, the response to this new column at EmuViewshas been outstanding, so I guess this makes it officialand a new regular column has been born. However, "A YearAgo Today..." will not have a fixed day, instead it willbe posted every two or three days depending on how muchaction we were getting by the same time next year. So let'sget right into the question, what was happening last yearby this time? One Monday, September 28, I posted about a new sitethat had just been created by friend 'Interceptor'. Hissite, titled Classic Gaming Conversions covered what we had to live with beforethere was emulation; versions of the same arcadegame running on different platforms. Sadly, the site movedfrom that location, and was then left to die herebecause of lack of time from the author.Believe it or not, by this time last year, Rainewas still battling to add music to someof its games. Games like Ninja Warriors and Liquid Kidshad only Sound Effects emulated, and had just gotten theirmusic emulated. And another one that was a biggie, although it feelslike it was just yesterday. Emulation of "Super Mario Kart"on Snes9x was announcedfor our pleasure. This game was one of the most troublesomeSNES carts and it was certainly great to read about it beingon the way to being emulated.A year to the day, version 0.52 of DTMNT came out. DTMNT was a "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" (Arcade) stand-alone emulator coded by a guynamed Dave. DTMNT is also another emulator who hassince stopped being developed, and most likely becauseMAME now emulated both TMNT and TMNT2 succesfully. The pagewas more recently merged with DGen development atits own URL: http://www.dtmnt.com.Also by this time next year, Zophar's Domain, one ofthe oldest emu sites, and one of the more popular, just getting their domain to workagain at http://www.zophar.net. This was probably thelast of many moves the site had been having by that timeThe day after that, EmuViews.Com had it's domain changed for the last time as well. It's been one yearsince I have been officially hosting myself, and I shouldsay very succesfully since we've had pretty good uptime, and a lot of downloads have always been available.Well that covers the news up to October 1st, 1998. Iwill write another edition of "A Year Ago Today..." laterin the week to cover some more outstanding events happeningin the past year. Thanks for reading!
