Atari 2600 joins the family! - October 27,1999 by JoseQ
How about I give you some good news? Thanks to Dasme, and the Stella-X source, I've been able to add no less than433 Atari 2600 ROMs to the ROMs Area hereat EmuViews. Games from the letter A to letter G havescreenshots as well, the rest of them will be added aswe go along. Feel free to start your downloads, and getyour favorite Atari 2600 ROMs going. I just got a verydeep feeling of nostalgia just by looking at some of thosescreenshots. Be sure to comment here on the addition andif you can help me with adding C64 games. Thanks forall your support!

One Article Up: All ROMs are up again!
One Article Down: Another JNES bug fix release...

Many other sites package their 2600 roms strictly in a series of zip files. Supposedly they're all public domain now, and I haven't seen any ISDA/Atari cease and decist ruilings saying that they're not.

I am pretty impressed that you got screen shots of each game on there. Wish there was a way to incorporate them into an emulator...

Atari is the section that come to complete the roms section. Now, this is the definitive check point to all emulator fans. And i think is better keep the roms separate for download. Is more interesting. After all, where is the fun of download everything at one click?

If you are looking for the latest Stella profile file I maintain it. It contains the latest ROM checksums and other information and is available here:

http://home.earthlink.net/~voch/stella.pro

It currently has information for 702 ROMs.

Ahh, thank you very much. I believe the one I had wasn't too extensive, since I had a list of 560 ROMs or so, and it only matched 433. I'll run my programs again with your list and see what I come up with. Thanks!

What I would do if I was you is, as well as having the Roms as seperate files to download, I would also have a single file to download with all the Roms in one zip which wouldn't be more than a few meg and make things a lot easier for your users.

I guess I could do that too... At least separate them by letter. I forgot that many people have very good internet speeds...

I'll do that soon.

Actually, I take that back. For obvious legal reasons, I can't package them up like that. Unfortunately, they will have to be available separately like that.

Oh, please. For obvious legal reasons you shouldn't post any ROMs on your site to begin with, unless they are public domain or you have written authorization from the writer and/or copyright owners.
