The Rumor Mill - October 29,1999 by JoseQ
Once again, and sorry for the delay, the Rumor Mill ishere to stir the news and let you guys know what's goingon behind closed doors. It is also here to continue thathuge thread of messages between Piolo and the rest of theworld. Maybe you want to go through some of the postingsin last week's Rumor Mill inwhich I just found out Ernesto Corvi made a lengthy andpresented many interesting points. Anyways, let's get backto the present time and look at what's in the Rumor bagthis time.
Where do I start... Let's start with The DigitalArcade. A site that has been closed down for almosta month now, has been slightly updated with more teasesabout what's coming. I gotta say it again, what I've seenlooks amazing, and what I've heard is even better. Rumorhas it that The Digital Arcade will give a good run forthe money in terms of ROMs hosted. And I've got over 2200posted here, so that's quite a good thing to say. I feela relief on bandwidth coming... phew... Pay it a visit, show your support, and hope for the best. Can't wait to seeit back in action.
And what about Retrocade you may ask? Well, this timeit is nature that's taken a toll on the main honchos behindthe project. Reports show Neil has gotten a bad case of theflu, so don't expect progress to move as smoothly as whenhe's healthy. I would guess we could still see a new releasehappen early in November.
And how about some exclusive pics for an upcomingversion of MAME? It has been a while since I got my handsin images like these, but here they are, just as theywere intercepted, pictures from: "Beast Busters" and "Dynamite Duke"!

Dynamite Duke 1
Dynamite Duke 2
Dynamite Duke 3

Beast Busters 1
Beast Busters 2
Beast Busters 3

I don't think I ever got to see any of those gamesduring my arcade experiences, but they do look ratherinteresting. Can't wait to get my hands on those. Theyshould be included in an upcoming version of MAME.
From what I've seen in the logs for the recent dayssince I put everything back online, it seems that I havesome room to grow, and have been planning on using it verysoon. The most likely thing to happen will be a brandnew C64 collection featuring hundreds of games for thatvery popular platform on which I spent countless hoursplaying. As usual, this will come with its respectivecollection of screenshots for easy finding of your favoritegames. So what can I say? I'm targeting to have over 3000 ROMs hosted before the end of the year. And don't worry Neo Geo fans, I haven't forgotten about you. I'll test some moreNeo Geo ROMs for correctness, take some screenshots and postthem too.
I guess that's all I can say for this Rumor Mill, sountil next week (which hopefully I will be able to poston Wednesday), I'll close the Rumor bag. Thanks for reading! Now, go comment!

Beast Busters in a future MAME! Oh joy. This is a great operation wolf type game where you shoot zombies and crap. Great fun.

Since you mentioned about the possibility of hosting NG roms on your site, I just would like to know if they will be in split format or if people can resume dloads, as most of them are BIIIGGG!!! TIA :)

I am very happy to hear of the return of
DA. It must have been one of the first sites
on my "rounds" in my emu bookmarks. =)
Goodluck Longevity, you have my full
support!

Now that I no longer have time to do a rumor review I am left wondering, what has happened to RetroFX. Not too far back a release felt like it was going to happen "any day now" but nothing has been heard out of them for over a month. I know their was speculation they were in some neogations about the possible commericalization of their product but they doesn't mean they couldn't keep us informed to some extent...

Emulator users:

It's a great thing that Longevity has decided to bring back DA. Remember why he had to close it down? Only six to thirteen people out of every thousand (yes, thousand!!) were clicking his sponsors' banners. So, it is very important to do your job in the emulation community by regularly clicking them.

DA had perhaps the most comprehensive array of ROMs for all systems. I, for one, am excited that such a great site will be reborn. Only by supporting it every way we can will DA stay alive.

Hey Jose,

Thanks for the blurb.
And, yes, guys and gals, Digital Arcade WILL return with tons of more supported ROMs and features.
JoseQ and others have been very supportive of Digital Arcade's return and hope to have it online very soon.
Keep an eye open on the site, as, like it presently states, you may miss a hint if you aren't paying attention.
