Do not; mess with the Do! - November 07,1999 by JoseQ
While that topic comes from the second 'Ace Ventura' movie, this article has to do with the other Do, Mr. Do! Being one of the most frequent posters to the message boardswithin the news articles, I'm sure Dorsola will be glad Iposted a reminder to the visitors to check the ReViews Area out. The reasonbeing that Dorsola has gone out and ReViewed all the Mr. Do!sequels and I believe that the Do has grown on him. If youlike to have a good discussion like the last time, checkout the ReViews and then come back here and post yourcomments.

Has anyone named a kid after a video
game? I went to school with some kids
who seemed to be named after household
products. Those pre-pong parents could
be cruel at times.

Subject: Um, how about a pet rabbit?
From:
Um a polish / netherlands rabbit named Mario.
He was a cute bunny, all 6lbs of him.
I'd hasten to bet that everyone can guess where the name Mario came from.

No suit from Nintendo. Mario lived eight years and died about four years ago.

Subject: What about NEO Mr. Do?
From:
Even though its a Neo Geo game, I think it was done with ingenuity and desrves a spotlight just as much as Do Run Run or Mr. Do's Castle. It and Money Exchange Puzzle are two of my fave NEO GEO games (and of course Puzzle Du Pon)

I dunno... I personally thought Neo Mr. Do! was kinda dumb... but that's okay. :) It was definitely a good follow-up to the original, and it provided a bit more variety and some interesting tactics that weren't there to begin with. In this case, gotta ignore the cute graphics (must... not... puke...) and enjoy the gameplay.

If someone doesn't beat me to it, I'll probably review Neo Mr. Do! the next time I get a chance. :)

From:
Different levels, the neat apple puzzle levels, sub bosses, there's a great deal of variety involved.

I do think its too easy to get to the bonus stage (particularly will the mega powerball) and extra lives are hard to get.

But its a neat variation of the regular Mr. Do.
IMHO ;)-

Hey hey! I just read the Galaxian review from BMan 2. Very nice. Looks like you guys are way ahead of me. Its nice to see that a rewiew has been written for Moon Cresta, which runs on Galxian software. As far as Galaxian goes, right now in this point in time I think its just about the perfect game. It has that old school playability and challenge that I like, and quentissential old school arcade graphics and sound. I like the sound because it is bizarre and surreal. To me, the graphics look like candy. As gameplay goes, this is exactly the kind of game I like. You have to practice hard to master it. But when you are in a groove nothing can stop you. Some of the Mr. Do games are kind of like that. Anyways, thanks for all the reviews guys, and keep the classic reviews coming!

I've enjoyed these Mr. Do threads simply because they liven up the Emuviews messageboards. I've been reading Jose Q's page alot recently, and appriciate the message aspect of this website. Emuviews is one of the few websites that I check up on almost everyday. I also want to let Jose know that I've been reading the DVD views page alot also. I'm a DVD nut and I really like your DVDViews page. I highly recommend it to anyone out there with a DVD. Keep up the good work Jose, and keep reviewin' those games, Dorsola. I would like to make the request that one of the reviewers review "Galaxian". It is my favorite game right now, and I've been playing it like mad. Classics like this tend to keep me coming back for more, to break high scores and such. Thanks again guys,
firefoxx (it was an arcade game also, ya know..)

I really think that everyone has gone overboard on Dorsola's ReViews. He expressed an opinion, that's all. Here in England, you are free to do this without recriminations, it was also the same in the USA the last time I looked! Personally I think Mr Do is OK around a 7/10 game. My favourite game is Commando, but if someone else rates it at 1/10, that's their choice!

As did the people expressing themselves in response, so what's your problem?

Freedom of speech and freedom of expression are the cornerstones for our society. This means I can have my opinion and express it, and I should also be prepared for whatever blasting I get for it. :)

In the case of my Mr. Do! review, I honestly do believe I came down too hard on it, so I don't feel bad about the feedback I got.

True true. :) This is why we have sites like EmuViews.com . It's so we can see what others think about the game! :)
