New Raine! - December 04,1999 by JoseQ
Update: The new supported game was released by J-Rom's Arcade ROMs from Japan earlier today, and I've made it available at the ROMs Lite Page as well. Enjoy!
In a very unexpected move, a new version of Raine has been released today! You can download it from the Emulator Download Page. Obviously with such a short timebetween releases, a couple of changes and one new gamehave been added. The game was announed earlier in the weekand it is "Mahou Daisakusen" which hasn't been released yet, but should be sometime soon. Other changesinclude fixes for a couple of known problems mostly causedby the new version of the C Compiler. So those of you lucky persons with Hot Rods can now play the new games in Rainewith your awesome sticks. Enjoy!

Yes, I agree. Raine is an awesome
emulator but the best games it supports
have no sound. Why not focus on that
instead of adding 10 more games without
sound every month? Sound is important
to some folks....

Yeah, I knoe. I wish the Bubble Bobble sequels had sound. They should concentrate on perfecting the good games rather than adding dozens of ones no one cares about.

..that you donīt care about other games but BuBo does NOT mean that other ppl only care for these games too.
btw...if you can make it better than the raine authors: feel free to impress us with you skills or stop moaning...

Personally I would rather have them adding new games than trying to decode a sound chip, espically when the people adding new games are not the same people that are coding the sound emulation.

Further, the reason there is no sound emulation in the Bubble Bobble sequels, and many other games in Raine is that there is very little information available about the sound chips used.

The RAINE team cares about them. The RAINE team puts in a great deal of valuable free time in writing an amazing emulator for us all to enjoy. Good enough reason for me.

Set the sound card to Epsoniq Soundscape, works for me.

If it works in MAME dos, it should work in raine.

Remember some of the games have no sound.

Kudos to the Raine team for making such a great emulator but I would personally prefer to see new features and games left on the back-burner for a while and the sound support sorted out.

Raine is the only emulator for the Bubble Bobble sequels, but playing them without sound halves the fun.

Once again, thanks for a great (otherwise) emulator though guys.

f3 sound is difficult to emulate at the minute as
information on the sound chips is non-existant :(

Weird thing is, in this new release, the forground graphics are missing in Puzzle Bobble 2. They're present in Puzzle Bobble 2 (extra) and Puzzle Bobble 3. I'm pretty sure that they were ok in RAINE 27a. Not a complaint, mind you, just strange.

BTW, the NeoGeo version of both the origional Puzzle Bobble and Puzzle Bobble 2 are just peachy (complete with sound FX) in NeoRageX.
