I'm a bit surprised that a few people are in the dark about these two sites; between them you should find all you need. Please remember to only download what you are legally entitled to.

I think the most difficult task is to find 100% working system roms (which is the most important rom of any driver in mess). I really know where to find some, and besides what I said before, I think that MESS deserves a little more popularity. It's MAME's sister, and if it gets better, we'll have both arcade and home/console systems 100% emulated, which can't be more great. C64 emulation on mess (I hope) is coming soon, and you already have a bunch of games for it.

Anyway, it's just about retrogaming, and MESS truly is 100% about that. It diserves more support from us, but without any help on the roms, we get lazy and most of us won't get it working.

Think about this... if the IBM pc driver gets improved... we'll be able to play all those old games that are available everywhere (under abandonware label) just like they used to be (I'm thinking for instance on Ultima series, specially the 7th episode, which can't run on almost every new system).

Anyway, I'm talking about what I want. Nevertheless, I still have some good points :)

BTW, excuse my english and my very blurry thinking, I can't be more tired. Thanks

Well, I know how to run it, but it runs only in DOS. Since I still have my old sb16 (and still use it), it works, but many PCI cards will not work correctly with U7 in DOS.
I ran U7 under the BOCHS emulator. It's painfully slow, and lacks sound on the version I tried (about a year ago).

BTW, did you purchase Ultima 9 Ascension? I did.... oh god, do it. It's incredibly amazing. In 5 minutes I was teleported to britannia. I kept playing till 6 am!

>MESS is based on MAME's source code now, so after a new MAME gets released, the MESS team picks up the source code and adds their overrides to the code. Why do you think MESS behaves an awful lot like MAME now?

JoseQ... what about support for MESS? I've found some sites that carry needed roms for MESS, but none of them were complete. I think MESS needs to be hosted in this way by one of the big sites, and yours is one.

Thanks for your hard work here, this site is great.

Which ROMs in particular do you think will be best hosted? I know MESS supports a whole lotta systems, so I'm not sure even where to start.

The main roms that need to be hosted are the system roms for the computer systems -- these are the hardest to come by -- and probably the ones most likely to get someone in trouble.

I found most of them out and about but had a hard time doing it. The ones that I am looking for are the color computer ones (particularly for Disk extended color BASIC).
