Crazy Marbles: A Marble Madness Remake! - January 25,2000 by JoseQ
Wow! I just went through my first session of Crazy Marbles, the demo. Thank the heavens I'm at work, because otherwise I'd play for hours. It's quite addictive. If you're wondering what it is, it is a 3D rendition ofwhat Marble Madness could have been like, had there been3D Acceleration then. It was programmed by Michael Boykoand I must say he did a good job. While the screenshotslook good, they don't do it justice. You have to play itto see what it's all about. The download is just 1.5MBs(available from the Crazy Marbles homepage), so if youhave a 3D Accelerated card (Glide or OpenGL), please doso and try it, I can almost guarantee you will like it. Itis quite challenging. Also, if you like it enough, for asmall fee of $9.95, the author will send you 12 more levelsfor you to play! Definitely sounds like it's worth it. Check it out! Thanks to dutch of Retrogames for the news!

Well, I do understand that this is no Marble Madness, since it misses color maps for the beginning and end, baddies running around, moving ladders, tunnels, pipes, waves, enemy balls, etc.

But for a single man attempt, I think it was quite entertaining. I found it pretty much fun to play. I played it again at home where I could have sound, and noticed that playing in silence outside the office wasn't much fun. So maybe I overreacted, but I think with a lot of work, this might be a cool game.

Nice programming, and nice idea. However, having a marble moving on a 3D playing field is not nearly enough to make it even close to Marble Madness. Sorry...

No 2-player simultaneous? No trackball support? Sigh. no offense to the programmer, but this game is nothing like MM and does not deserve to be mentioned in the same breath...
