Update at the Journal... - January 26,2000 by JoseQ
The Snes9x Developers Journal has been updated with two interesting points. While the first is regarding3dfx/Glide issues, what I would like to talk about is theirsecond point, which is to say site support. The Snes9xauthors are having a hard time finding funds to supportthe site for various reasons. Some of the websites aroundusually post their emu just as soon as they do, and as aresult, they get very few visitors even during release days. As you may know, by getting lots and lots of visits,is how they get the funds to support the site and the emulator, so if you don't stop by their site to read whatthey to say, or download the emu, there might not be anemu to download in the future. Thus, I have made a decisionto not post Snes9X binaries until one day after their releases. Don't get me wrong, I'll post the news, but I'llask you to visit their page for the coveted download. Snes9x is a great emulator and I'd totally hate to see it retire while we could do something to prevent that from happening. Let's show them the support they need.
Also, if you're a webmaster, don't copy/paste the whole Snes9x updates onyour site. Be original. Mention a few things, and asks your readers to pay thema visit. Otherwise, why would they bother updating if there are only a few readers?

I should also mention i dont have a glide compatible card but i use a glide wrapped called xgl200 0.04a to enable its use and i didnt have any problems with the 3dfx version of Snes9x and i didnt even use the set up features for the wrapper just the Glide2x.dll file in the Snes9x directory But most people who tryed them with Ultahle have probaly tryed the wrappers with Snes9x

i didnt know that. And I been a fan of Snes9x for a long time. Shame on me for never downloading from there but now i will. I think its a good idea not to put the the latest relase up immediately and to let us know about there site. I think alot of us would neglect to go there with out this information.

I usually purposely get the files off the various emu sites because I was afraid that they would have bandwidth problems if everyone converged on their site!

Maybe JoseQ could support them as a hosted site???? I tried this emu out and it does run very good and the support doc's in the form of text documents are very informative as well.

While I could, their site runs based on ASP which in turn runs on NT servers. I only have Linux servers available. =(

Great idea JoseQ. I for one, usually nab the file off one of the major emu sites. .not even thinking about the creators. Good move, hopefully others will follow.
