Poll Results - February 09,2000 by JoseQ
Remember that poll that I asked you to fill out about a month ago? Well the results are in, and I would like to share some of the more interesting ones with you as some of you asked. But first, if you didn't take the poll that other time, please click here and fill it out now, it really does help the site getsponsoring for hosting of more of the content that you all like. Going back to the statistics, almost 500 people responded, which is a lot more than I expected although a little discouraging given the number of people that visit the site daily. Here are some of the highlights:

  • Age Group: The great majority of the visitors (55%) are around the age of 25-34, with 18-24 being a close second with (33%). There apparently are no visitors over the age of 54 and about 1% decided not to answer this question.
  • Gender: I was shocked to learn that 97% of the visitors are male. And only 1% answered the question as being female. 2% decided not to answer or maybe were not sure. I definitely expected the majority to be male visitors, but not by that huge a margin. This might be even representative of the whole emulation crowd. Scary...
  • Education: The level of education from the visitors, was everywhere from some High School to Post-Graduate degrees. The majority being at 'Some College' (34%) followed by college graduates (28%). 11% already had post-graduate degrees which was a little surprising.
  • Citizenship: This wasn't surprising but I do believe that many are not aware. The majority of visitors to this site, do not come from the United States, but from elsewhere. However, the US is the country with most visitors coming into the site. 49% of the visitors are US residents, and the rest live in some other place.
  • Bookmarks: 8% of you hadn't bookmarked the site. What are you waiting for!
  • Internet Usage: So 31% of you (like myself) spend 20+ hours on the internet every week. 55% spends between 6 and 20 hours though.
  • Visit Length: I found it weird that 6% of you spend more than an hour on this site every day, which is good. 43% however spends between 5 and 10 minutes and 11% spends less than 5 minutes.
  • Visit Frequency: I was glad to find that 63% of you visit the site daily, followed by 31% saying they visit the site several times a week.

I would like to thank everyone that participated, as this will help create some targeted advertising for my sponsors, getting better results overall. Thanks again!
