Got a fast CE Machine to put MAME on? - February 10,2000 by JoseQ
I found this rather curious, thanks to the folks at Retrogames. MAME CE is a Windows CE version of MAME, designed to run on the Cassiopeia line of hand-held computers. These machinesare just about as fast as you can get with hand-held CEdevices, so if MAME has any chance on running on the gowithout a laptop computer, the Cassiopeia is it. The authoradmits that this version is un-optimized and he might dosome extra hand-coding down to machine code to get it to work, but in the meantime, it might worth a try. If you'vegot a Cassiopeia, please leave some comments here.

now that consoles are using newer technology, they had better be careful or well use their consoles as an arcade cabinet for our emulators!!!

MAME on CE... Hmmm... Could this mean that someone could possibly get MAME running on a Dreamcast easily, since it is compatible with CE?

Things could get very interesting if Sega releases that ZIP drive for the Dreamcast...

Or heck, until then, maybe the emulator could be downloaded to the DC's memory, and a small ROM file saved to the VMU?

Oh, the possibilities...

On the downside though, I believe that the CE OS has to be contained on the GD-ROM disc itself, and isn't "inside" the Dremacast by default...

Couldn't Mame make an emulator for the Dreamcast to be used on your PC? For the roms just rip some of that music from them and upload just the bear minimum to run them. Because everybody knows that the music is what takes up all the space on those Gdrom disc.

No, I think MAME's a little busy right now... Why don't YOU make a Dreamcast emulator, and get back to me in a few days.
