Looking for Sega32X Emulation? Ages! - February 17,2000 by JoseQ
I just found this awesome page with screenshots from a preliminary (and private) Sega 32Xemulator thanks to Emulation Camp. In it you can see someearly shots at 10 different games including: "Doom", "Space Harrier", "Brutal" and more. While there is no specifics,or download available, they come as very nice news. Which also brings me to a question I had; some people over IRC suggested that I started hosting Sega Genesis games, what do you think I should do?

One Article Up: Ridge Racer 64 works well on Nemu...
One Article Down: Unix & Mac Generator 0.13 are here!

its about time someone got around to developing a 32X emu. personally, id like to see more work on emu's for some of the less popular consoles, like the Jaguar and the 3DO, and maybe even the Cdi. on another point, does anyone know what the system req's might be for this 32X emu?

It requires Windows 95/98/(2000?) with DirectX installed.

I ran it on a Pentium II 300Mhz machine. The speed seemed O.k., but things could change (either way) before a playable version is available.

I don't know much else.

Cool!! 32X emulation - lets hope it doen't flunk like the Sega Saturn emus seems to do all the time.

Genesis roms on Emuviews is ok, but don't do it if U have to remove arcade roms to get the space. (where did those Impact roms go?)

I just put two of them back anyhow for a while.

They are in the 'they-cost-me-too-much-to-host' bin. They are too big.

This emulator is real. It has been in development for over a year. Please see the EmuCamp (www.emucamp.com) news archives from Tuesday, October 5, 1999 for an old news article about AGES. The image is from a demo called "Celtic Demo." I can personally attest to the fact that the Celtic Demo image is real.

I think it should be good for emuviews to put "good dumped" (as DL said) Genesis Roms. The most stuff you had, the most people will visit you.

I think we should just wait and see what comes of it. Do you remember that guy called "Shattered Soul" or something like that? I think he was working on a 32x emu of some sorts. People got too crazy about it and he cancelled it. Lets just hope this one doesn't go the way of the dinosaurs too.

It would be great if Emuviews had Genesis roms. There aren't many sites with "good" dumps; mostly hacked or trained stuff.

Not sure where you come with that assumption. The resolution of the screen there seems correct, plus it would be very hard to get a pixel perfect screen capture with any capture device coming from a TV signal.

A strange bit of info though. If you look at the pics of Spiderman and the Baseball game they have what appears to be scanlines moving across thier screen. Also using the IE PowerToys ZOOM addon, most of the pics resolution is just about wiped out on one ZOOM, but the EMU window still looks good. The other wierd part was even though the pics of Black Thorne, Spiderman, and Baseball lose resolution when doing this the Doom pic still looks nice and clean when ZOOMed in several times. It almost seems as though the pic of Doom was a cut and paste from somewhere else.

Oh well real or not I'll watch and wait.
