Vice & WinVice 1.3! - March 04,2000 by JoseQ
Somehow this got released a few days ago and I missed it. Vice, a multi-platform Commodore C64/C-128 (and others) emulator has been updated to version 1.3. You can download the DOS and Windows versions from the Emulator Download Page. Changes in this release include "Super Snapshot V5" and "Rex" fastload cart emulation, improvements in REU emulation, a status bar has been implemented for the DOS version, and much more. Check out the "News" file for all the details (there are changes a-plenty). Also check out the Home Page for the source tree if that interests you. Enjoy!

Well if theirs something that deserves emulation its the C64 I'm sure many people have fond memories of this machine it was in the marketplace for alot longer than most machines.

THanks for the Updates guys.

I still have lots of c64 disks and tapes as well as a few carts. And have many fond memories of the games and apps on the c64.

Last year tho Ilent my C64 to a freind he has four kids.(i should have know better after lending hin an Amstrad I got for Fixing someones 486 dx66.which you can still use to get on the net. I found playin cards in the floppy drive and it never work ever again). But anyway his kids had no video game and he and I as well as a few other friends had lots o fun in the Past on that old 64. Needless to say the 1541 no longer works:( the only sad thing about it was that i had written alot of music on it years ago and tho i stil have the disks i wrote the music on i cant play them anymore.(i had intended to conect an old 1541 to my current system cause alot of EMUs allow you to do this.

But the c64 was not just for gamming or music it was really the first computer affordable to most people with a wide range of uses as well as an easy to use programming language. If it wern't for people emulating these machines one day or the projects the memories and joy that people madde and experience with this machine could be lost forever.

Long live the Commodore 64
