MAME32 0.37b5!!! - July 30,2000 by JoseQ
Woohoo! MAME32 has already been updated to version 0.37b5! I for one was eagerly awaiting for it and didn't expect it to be out so early. If you want it, you can certainly get it from the Emulator Download Page. Other than the fact that there's the obvious 51 new games supported (some of which are awesome), the pictures will now be saved in the 'snap' directory much like the DOS version does. Most certainly, enjoy!

Well, I think I can kill two birds with one stone. I tried playing NBA Jam with my AMD K6-2 400 Mhz, and it's rather unplayable unless I turn off the sound. So, I guess I have to break down and think about an upgrade. I suppose 450Mhz doesn't make much of a difference. Looks like we both will need faster CPU's. :( Until then, the best advice I can give you is to turn off the sound and bump up the frameskip. I've even resorted to turning on the scanlines...anything to get that extra bit of speed. Best of luck to you. Cheers! ~PJ.

I was just happy to see that Terminator 2 is now fully playable. That's fantastic. I haven't tried the MK games yet. I doubt it will run decent on my computer. I have an AMD K6-2 400 Mhz system with 128MB of RAM. We'll give it a try. I'll let you know how it does. Until then, enjoy! I know I will. :) ~PJ.

Question: I got it to boot up, but I couldn't control the cursor to aim. How the hell do you control it? I tried using the mouse and/or arrorw. No luck. Any help would be great.

Subject: Official Mame32 SLOW!!
From:
Hey, i just tried out the official release of Mame32 and i noticed that the games were running not as fast as they were with the Unofficial version. I'd say about 10 - 15 frames slower. Why dont you guys try it out and post your comments. Oh yea, let know how much the frame rate drops.

Well I think 64MBs should be enough, and personally, I wouldn't run any computer with less than that for any Windows Operating System.

As usual, the more the merrier, but don't try too much on Windows 98 as it pretty much doesn't care. Windows 2000 will do much better use of your RAM.

Got TNT2 but only a 400Mhz PII
Running Win2k

I download the unofficial mame32 w/a-fire.

Still crashes on my Win2000 when I tried to play Mk3+, Rampage WT, and other new Midway games...

I had to switch out to the stupid Win98 to check out the new Midway games.

I hope this version of the Official Mame32 fixs this and of course - the dreded noise problems when using it with a SB Live PCI card.

I've heard of these sound problems and I really hadn't noticed them. I do run on a SB Live! Platinum and it runs pretty well... What settings are you using?

I tried Midas @ 44.1KHz, and all 3 optimizations... Tried a few games, good sound. No crackling or anything...

Also list the type of computer.

Wow, I must say I just tried running NBA Jam and it ran perfectly (with sound!) on my P3-700 machine running Windows2000. I also tried umk3 and it ran about 90% with sound.

Those of you running on Windows with good video cards, should give it a try. I run with an old TNT2. It's not top of the line, but it's been giving me good results. Feel free to post here and compare.

You are so right Jose Q
I have a p3 500 and all the games run ok, not perfect, but they are still playable. By the way, look at how mk was at the start.

they fixed that, im sure theyll do the smae with mk2
