Raine for 8/19/2000! - August 20,2000 by JoseQ
A new version of Raine has been released at it's new home, Geoshock. You can download version 20000819 from the Emulator Download Page right now! For the first time since the source was released, new games have been added to the emulator. Among them: "Playgirls" and "Playgirls 2", which seem to be of the 'adult' type of games. Other changes include "Kiki Kai Kai" and "Knight Boy" finally working correctly and a clone of "Bubble Bubble Symphony" called: "Bubble Bobble II". Get your emulator and enjoy the new version!

I like to think that RAINE will always continue
to grow, be it little by little, or by huge
leaps.. I enjoy MAME as well, but it doesnt run
very well on my old computer, so RAINE
is the choice for me, for alot of games
As for some of the games not having sound - yet
That's not a big deal either. But everyone is different
I just hope that RAINE will someday emulate
Time Killers and/or Bloodstorm =)

I want to see a windows directx version of Raine that also supports the hammerhead FX pad. Mame rules, Raine rules and so do all the other 100+ emulators. EMULATORS RULE PERIOD!!!

Sorry-ass lamer!
I bet this is the culprit that has email
all the emulation authors in the past and made them close / kill off their new emulation projects. What a stupid, one-sided-lame remark! So you don't won't any emu's to born and evolve because MAME here. Get the F*** out of here you conceded ingrate!

Now for everyone else:
IMHO, Raine is the only emu that is close to what Mame is, and there's allot of games that Mame still has not support that is found in Raine. Every tricks and fix the Mame Dev teams comes up for itself I'm pretty sure it will be copied on to Raine as well (and of course' visa versa.)

I also believe that because Mame is develop and *controlled* by groups of certain elite programmers, I think it will be slowed to add to it's own advancement and most importantly new improvements (i.e., Bilinear filtering screen mode like Snes9x, Q-sound like Callus). Because Raine is pushed by only a few Programmers and no committee to debate on what will and wont be implemented, it will be easier to add the custom gimmicks/tack-on's to the code. I think the future of Raine will be very bright! :)

Nicola makes the final decisions of what is
included in MAME. It is NOT a committee decision.

For god's sakes people, give up on Raine. I see absolutely no difference in any update. There STILL< STILL is no sound in arabian magic or Elevator Action 2. Not to mention the fact that is open source. I know that mame will take those games are perfect them, something which raine will never do.. Please people, the emulator is dead, give it its resting time.

Bye

PS
MAME RULES!!!!!!!!

Raine is an excellent emulator Kevin. Just because it doesnt support sound for those 2 games doesnt mean that these updates aren't going to make it a better emulator; and the differences are that more games are being supported.

I really hope so too. Maybe if we encourage them to compile on a Win2K, it will be flawless. I hate to use anything in Win9x and deal with it's ridiculous low System Resources issues.

Exactly, I have two Harddrives, one with winME for games that wont run and another with win2K for my 'serious stuff'. It would be nice to have just the one.
