MAME 0.37b6 is out! - August 20,2000 by JoseQ
Less than a month after the biggest MAME release in recent history, a new version has been rolled out by Nicola. Version 0.37b6 is available in binary form from the Emulator Download Page. Other than fixes to the Taito Sound L driver and the use of previously unused PROMs, a lot of new games are supported in this new version, which is a surprise to me. Nevertheless here's the list of new games:

  • Mega Blast [Brad Oliver]
  • Metal Black [David Graves]
  • Big Karnak [Manuel Abadia]
  • Biomechanical Toy [Manuel Abadia]
  • Back Street Soccer [Luca Elia]
  • Sky Fox / Exerizer [Luca Elia]
  • Space Beam [Peter Trauner]
  • Kuri Kinton [Nicola Salmoria]
  • Play Girls [Nicola Salmoria]
  • Play Girls 2 [Nicola Salmoria]
  • Karian Cross [Nicola Salmoria]
  • Logic Pro [Nicola Salmoria]
  • Logic Pro 2 [Nicola Salmoria]
  • The Last Day [Nicola Salmoria]
  • Pollux [Nicola Salmoria]
  • Blue Hawk [Nicola Salmoria]
  • Primella [Nicola Salmoria]
  • R-Shark [Nicola Salmoria]
  • Gals Pinball [Nicola Salmoria]
  • Video Pinball [Sebastien Monassa]
  • Truxton II / Tatsujin II / Tatsujin Oh [Yochizo]

This time, I must skip the ROM posting as I simply cannot afford to distribute. I'm still trying to recover on bandwidth usage from the previous release which had my servers at more than double regular usage for a few days. I recommend checking out http://www.mame.dk for the downloads.

Been out of the scene in a while. What's been the big changes in MAME recently (apart from more ROMS)?

    From: 210.149.120.30
    Those Hidden Mame Roms are
    PlayChoice-10. They are playable.

(SMB3, Excite Bike, Contra, etc). and the playchoice 10 BIOS Rom.
Arcadeheaven.com has them. Put them both in your ROMS folder (Leave them Zipped) and
run MAME with the Playchoice 10 game you want to play.

There are also some key differences:

5 - Insert Coin (Buys Time) - Watch the clock, do not let it run out. Pressing 5 gives you 300 additional units.
9 - Channel Select (not used much)
    0 - Enter
1 - Game Select button (used inside game)
    2 - Game Start Button
    Ctrl Key - Button A
    Alt Key - Button B

The bottom Unknown dipswitch, when turned on,
is "Free Play". When the 3rd and 4th dips are on,
time per coin is cut to 150.

    Email carnage2k1@ignmail.com

    Hope you all enjoy.>:)

Wow! You are pretty darned cool for finding that out and letting the rest of us know.

I just want them to emulate the Vs. series of Nintendo releases... I think that's a lot more interesting than the PlayChoice which was just a SNES vending machine. Oh well. All in good time.

BTW -- Logic Pro 1 & 2 are fantastic! I love those kinds of puzzles -- I had no idea they made an arcade game based off of them!

just wanted to say thank you joseq.
i understand your bandwidth troubles, but i just keep checking your site twice a day (roms or not) and clicking some random banners (even though im not really interested). i also appreciate you pointing us somewhere to actually get the roms, since its hard for us "regular folks" getting them, when were not active irc / message board users.
OK, this message is pointless, but i just wanted to say thanks.

If you can't afford to get the MAME roms up, no problem at all. I appreciate all your work in the past, (not to mention in the future) This site is a great site, with or without the roms!

Thanks, I appreciate the comments. I just have to keep the bandwidth quota low for this month, but I should be able to be back posting them come next month.
