Mimic does Coleco! - September 12,2000 by JoseQ
The Mimic website was updated today by The Beaver with great news! A HWC driver was written to handle the ColecoVision system. What's more exciting is that it took only 15 lines to write it! While it is by no means perfect, the BIOS is already showing up it's stuff, and it does say a lot about the possibilities with this emulator and it's flexibility. It sure is interesting to see this concept taken to the next level. For those of you not familiar with the HWC concept it is basically a driver for a game or system outside the emulator itself. Whereas the emulator is a binary executable, the driver stands outside of it, and does not require the emulator itself to be compiled before the new driver is supported. Basically a plug'n'play approach for emulators. There's some people writing HWC for Mimic as well, maybe you could join the gang? Visit the website for more info, and a screenshot of the Coleco driver!
