New AGES! - November 19,2000 by JoseQ
A new version of WinAGES has been released! You can get this new binary from the Emulator Download Page! This new release has major speedups from the previous version, including 44% Sega CD Emulation, improved Sega CD Compatibility, among many other things. You sure want to try this out and see if your favorite Sega CD games are now working better. Major kudos to Quinntesson for continuous pioneering of Sega CD Emulation! Enjoy!

I'm serious. The more bickering and stuff that you send the authors of these emulators in general and the more you try to get them to focus on just what *you* want, the more likely they are to leave the scene. After seeing Pretendo taken out of the public arena (in addition to many other great emu projects)...

Keep in mind, Cap'n, Meka-l33t, etc., that unless you were actually involved in some stage of the development of the actual machine, for most emu developers, writing a good emu takes a LOT of guesswork and a LOT of time and effort. And patience.

And I think Haze has a really good point, BTW: Quintesson may simply have reached the end of what he knows about the 32X hardware and moved on to the Sega CD. I, for one, am more interested in SegaCD emulation, but ultimately it comes down to what the emu author is interested in.

Remember that (a) you don't pay for these emulators *or* the ROM/ISO images, and (b) the programmers don't *have* to write these emulators for you. I don't think y'all should be complaining.

You can't fairly judge this point. Most people DON'T have a cable modem to bother with Sega CD ISOs, as for the free games comment - I for one enjoy purchasing the real thing and use emulation as my demo domain when buying MegaDrive\32X software, mate!

>(b) the programmers don't *have* to write these emulators for you. I don't think y'all should be complaining.

Good point mate!

I don't want any write it yourself comments cause not everyone is gifted with programing, but I think there are 2 systems that need to take precendence above all overs! the Jaguar and the 32X I have been waiting since the dawn of emulation to see these two done! and they are to be the last, hell I guarentee DC will get a decent emulator before a system that deserves emulation will

I for one am glad someone is working on a Sega CD emulator... My sega CD is long since dead. And I miss Sonic CD botht the american and Japanese versions! I have a ton of CD's. So take a leap cap'n. It's HIS EMU let him do what he likes. If you don't like it, then don't use it and go crawl back in your hole... Some of us are thankfull for the EMUs we get it's dorks like you that kill emus....

ok 32x roms are easy to get, where as sega CD iso's are a bit harder unless you have a cable connection, I only pray Gensx continues! I never liked Sega CD anyway

There's some fine games for both systems (although far and few between). If Quinntesson wants to work on the Sega CD, he should. If you want 32X emulation, work on it yourself.

Now we can call it a Sega-CD emulator - finally, and forget it's 32X roots. WooHoo! Go! Ages Go! Sega CD4life!!! 32X-B-Bad!!!

C'mon let's celebrate the new beginning of Sega-CD emulation and the dark death of the 32X =).
