Part 3 of the bleem! feature running at Gamer's uplink has been posted. Written by 'kilik123' takes a look at the Dreamcast port of bleem! which should appear before us hopefully within a few months. This is an informative article covering exclusively the Dreamcast bleem! If you're like me, and you're looking forward to this release, you might want to read through it. Maybe there's some bit of info that has escaped you previously.

One Article Up: More Mimic Progress!
One Article Down: New AGES!

From: 4.4.35.243
I was just thinking about some of my comments on the latest BLEEM subject!
Should there be a board for those SCREWED by BLEEM?
I would like to know that I was not the only one!
And I WOULD like my money back!
If not that then just whatever to let them know they messed up!
I want to create something that BLEEM will either work to avoid, or learn to HATE!
please COMMENT!

Being that there's a lot of disgruntled people ranting about the lack of updates of bleem! for PC and no release of bleem! for DC, I feel inclined to help out. So as soon as the move to United Gaming Network is completed for Gamers Uplink, I will add a bleem! board where everyone can talk more about bleem! I should have done this with the begining portions of the features, but didnt think to do it. But when the move to UGN is completed, I will add it. (You all have my word.) Anyone have any suggestions for a good board besides UBB and WWWThreads?

He doesn't seem to have a clue what he is talking about. I read the first article after JoseQ mentioned it was well written. I started laughing and closed the browser widow after i read this:

"Soon a beta of the software was leaked, and the response was overwhelming. People were amazed at the speed, compatibility, and graphics enhancement capabilities of the soon to be released PSX emulator. "

From what I saw back in the day, (when Vintage Gaming was Daves Classics) I saw that people were amazed with the leaked beta. That's why I included it. That's history (Troubled Past.)

This is a response to the third post from the bottom, for those who hate the searching!
Don't you guy's use cut and paste?

Anyway, Mike C

Thank you for putting into words what all of us ORIGINAL BLEEM customers feel!

uzplayer,

You seem pretty confident about an upcoming update!
If you are in touch with the BLEEM TEAM maby you should have them take a few moments of their precious time, and read this board!
Maby even make an official statement about the current situation!
I mean come on they not only don't update, but they won't even talk to us!
The only time they update the site is for new products $$$!
If it wasn't for MYSELF and countless others there would be no BLEEM !!!
Do they realize this ???

Maby I should turn my website into the I GOT SCREWED BY BLEEM website!
Home of the "ANUAL UPDATE",
Want to buy MY T-SHIRT ?

As for the good CPU mentioned in the post below this, On the back of my CD case it says Pentium 166 or higher.
I have a 450 and it isn't worth using !!

It's a gut feeling that I have... They released a Spanish version of the same software. They must have some kind of WIP.

I am in touch with their PR team.

I am reading this board. Why do you think I take the time to respond here? You could also be all posting on my boards. Ironic. 3 parts have been unveiled in the feature and only ONE person has posted on our message boards. Perhaps we should continue this over there?

>Maby even make an official statement about the current situation!

This is my current officiail statement regarding bleem!

Yesterday, (November 20, 2000) I sent a list of questions to the bleem! pr team on what's going on, to clear the rumors up on what's happening with bleem! for PC and bleem! for DC. Some of the questions included the release dates, reasons for delay, etc.. The questions were short and top the point. Hopefully I will get a response ASAP and will post them on Gamers Uplink. Stay tuned to Emuviews as once I get the answers, I will be sure to email all site ops regarding it.

>I mean come on they not only don't update, but they won't even talk to us!

Actually, they're not talking to too many people. I have been having difficulties reaching them myself. But hopefully they will grant me my request.

>The only time they update the site is for new products $$$!

I am sure they do. I do support bleem! inc and their efforts, but I do agree that the delays are getting slightly annoying.

Didn't JoseQ do a rumor mill with bleem a couple of months ago. This boils down to i'll beleive it when I see it.

"At one point, I tend to agree that this was a weak part of the article. But put yourself in bleem!s position. You are a two man company that is trying to get a PSX emulator out while Sony and the courts is overlooking, breathing down your neck. Embroiled in legal battles, two people showing up in court time and time again could have a problem with working on bleem! As I have said, I agree that they should have continued updating despite the lawsuits, but at another point I can understand what they were going through and how Sony can sabotage just about everything"

Ok, which of these 2 people qualifies as the bleem PR team, And frankly they should fire themselves as they have been doing a truely poor PR job.

Best of luck. But i doubt it will say anything other than repeat what's been said. probably something like:

"Yes BLEEMCAST!!! is currently in development it is comming along great. It will revolutionize the gaming world!!!
M. What happened to all those posted release dates?
"No release date was ever given by BLEEM!!! for BLEEMCAST!!!"
M. What about those ads in the gaming mags showing it last summer?
"No release date was ever given by BLEEM!!! for BLEEMCAST!!!"
M. Ok... How's the PC product progressing?
"Yes BLEEM!!! is currently in development it is comming along great. It will revolutionize the gaming world!!!
M. Any planned release date? (pleasepleaseplease)
"No release date was ever given by BLEEM!!! for BLEEM!!!"
M. I would like to thank my dog spot for giving me feedback on this mock interview.

To the best of my knolodge Bleem has given absolutely no new information that they will confirm since E3 last May. I have no reason to beleive they will release anything through a third party other than a repeat of may's press release.

No they were slightly annoying before E3, after E3 it became upsetting, after Christmas it will be contemptable.

This has become a rather weak argument to justify BLEEM's flaws, you shouldn't need the latest bleeding edge drivers for a year old program.

For the record, I bought bleem because I beleived and still beleive that it could be a great program. I want nothing else but for them to do well. But they really seem to have dropped the ball on this, free PSX emulators are surpassing them and VGS has compatibility and ease of use that bleem could only dream of.

I have a AMD Athlon 900mhz processor based computer and bought Star Trek Armada (about maybe a year old program, maybe less.) And I had to download the latest drivers for it to work properly.

Free emus are surpassing bleem!. There is no doubt in my mind regarding that. Hopefully though bleem! will pull something in the coming months.

As the writer of the article i feel the need to give you my view point on the whole matter of my article being biased or not.

1. I dont give a crap about bleem not updating in over a year for the PC. The article is about bleemcast not bleem for the pc so it shouldnt be an issue here, the issue is that bleemcast should be an excellant product from the info that i know about it. It will have great compatibility and graphics. In my opinion it is what bleem 1.6 or whatever it will be called, will be like when it comes out for the pc, and it will come out, just be patient.

2. im biased, i dont care about the pc market nor do i care about emulation as a whole. i am only concerned with good console products, and i feel that bleemcast should be a very good product for the average gamer who has never even played bleem nor will much care about bleem 1.5b and all the rants about it not being updated. I wrote about bleemcast, not 1.5b, get over it. If you think i am biased, ok tell me in an email (jhowell@gamersuplink.com) so we can include your viewpoint in the next part in the series, if you say something intelligent we will more than likely include it.

Thanks for hearing me out.

That article started out un-biased but by the end it turned into another biased "article". Obvious YOU people want people to buy BleemCast. Look at it again uzplayer, if you don't believe you pulled another Homer again you really don't get it.
Also legal battles by Sony is NO excuse for not updating the PC product, that is a lame excuse by an apparent lame company - Bleem LLC or Inc., as you call them. Even Connectix had the gull to update during legal battles, but I guess Bleem thinks it's above doing that.

I especially took offence to this quote by your buddy:

"Some of you gamers out there might be turned away from bleemcast because you feel burned by no bleem! 1.6, think of bleemcast as that new version, they have spent the past year working on this which is the reason there has been no new release or upgrade to 1.5b. Watch for bleemcast in the near future, you wont want to miss out on it!"

How dare HE. Comparing BleemCast to Bleem is like comparing apples to oranges. BleemCast isn't Bleem 1.6, especially when you have to actually buy Bleem! again, and then you have to buy it in "packs" which further insults this supposed "superior" products greatness. No emulator out their forces users to buy it several times just so that they can play their games yet Bleem! sure wants people to think they are God with their current product plans and all this un-necessary and stupid hype.

Well, I don't hate you uzplayer - I hate your people's obvious attempts to convince the regular folks that Bleem! isn't evil, despite the fact they havn't updated Bleem! PC in over ONE year and took the money to do their precious BleemCast. Perhaps you think you're people are being un-biased, but the truth is that they sure seem like it at this point.

I have read it, proofread it, had it revised for gramatical errors, and posted it. I am well aware of the articles contents and I know for a FACT that he's not showing ANY bias towards bleem! at all. Kilik123 does not have a background in emulation as opposed to Rabidfrog and myself. He's more into console/nextgen games then emulation. His article was of excitement for a product that would allow him to play his PSX games ENHANCED on his Dreamcast.

The theory behind the bleem! packs is that a game on each bleem! pack is perfected individually. This will allow you to experience the same speed, gameplay, and enhanced graphics as you have saw in the screenshots we posted.

You cant really do much else with the DC as on the DC you do not have an HD to download updates, so bleem! has one shot at making all games completely playable. If they screw it up, then there will be even MORE unhappy people out there.

Would you rather them take their time and release a good product? Or would you rather have them release a flawed product and complain again?

>Well, I don't hate you uzplayer - I hate your people's obvious attempts to convince the regular folks that Bleem! isn't evil, despite the fact they havn't updated Bleem! As I have said.. An insult to my staff is an insult to me and I react accordingly. My staff members arent biased in any way and have experience in both emulation and gaming. You will see that in the feature, part I talks about the history. I was there to witness all of it unfold. Part II talks about bleem! for PC. Experienced emulation webmaster wrote that and tested it with numerous games. Part III talks about bleem! for DC. The staff member who wrote that has more experience in gaming then anything else. However, he did go around EFNet asking for opinions about bleem! and bleem! for DC, and here's a shocker. NONE of the people he asked said ANYTHING. He went back to Emuviews and looked at the threads on bleem! of all of us arguing, and could only find a bunch of i***** arguing pointless crap, but he DID include it.

So dont tell me my staff members are biased. If anything, I think you're biased.

No updates = loss of market share = lack of consumer trust trust = less money for Bleem LLC. =)

Nobody cares about the two-man team bit. They should have hired more people then instead o taking the money and developing Bleemcast!, do they care about the user? I don't get the impression they do, they seem more in it for themselves then the user base THEY created. Of course that's just an opinion.

Gosh darned it, then release it in a bundle. If you look at economically you are getting ripped-off as a consumer with that bad product value - but I guess with all the hype people forget that.

Bleem! Packs = evil, look at it more closely - it's idiotic and evil.

>Would you rather them take their time and release a good product? Or would you rather have them release a flawed product and complain again?

A good product =)

>>Well, I don't hate you uzplayer - I hate your people's obvious attempts to convince the regular folks that Bleem! isn't evil, despite the fact they havn't updated Bleem! PC in over ONE year and took the money to do their precious BleemCast. Perhaps you think you're people are being un-biased, but the truth is that they sure seem like it at this point.
>>

Perhaps they all said nothing, thinking he was another lamer?

>He went back to Emuviews and looked at the threads on bleem! of all of us arguing, and could only find a bunch of i***** arguing pointless crap, but he DID include it.

C00L, I better see this thing which I missed. I only saw some complaining at the end, and when will mention of Bleem! LLC's killing off their board due to not being able to handle the negative feedback of their user base come in.

>So dont tell me my staff members are biased. If anything, I think you're biased.
>

I better be biased, like you, or else I can't fight the biased newsmen with their heavily biased views.

Yes.. It wasnt bleemcast! hype. He just wants to see it come out...

>No updates = loss of market share = lack of consumer trust trust = less money for Bleem LLC. =)
>

You work for Sony.. Dont you?

>Nobody cares about the two-man team bit. They should have hired more people then instead o taking the money and developing Bleemcast!, do they care about the user? I don't get the impression they do, they seem more in it for themselves then the user base THEY created. Of course that's just an opinion.
>

They have been trying to hire more people. I dunno any status on that.. But if there has been so much delay, then you would think that they are having difficulties.. Right?

>Gosh darned it, then release it in a bundle. If you look at economically you are getting ripped-off as a consumer with that bad product value - but I guess with all the hype people forget that.
>

Personally, I think $19.99/bleem pack is an excellent deal.

>Bleem! Packs = evil, look at it more closely - it's idiotic and evil.

Now you're just talking like an idiot...

>A good product =)

So then why complain? Let them do their job...

>Perhaps they all said nothing, thinking he was another lamer?

Gee.. Then how am I able to get responses from people?

On user participation IF you email me your opinions..

You are all right and you are all wrong..
For the PC owners, Bleem = betrayal.. sad but true. For the Dreamcast, Bleem = Super stuff.. once again, sad but true.. You can think it's a rip off 20$ per pack but many ppl don't.. if you don't buy it, someone else will.. Facts of life..
About Biased part.. same crap as with everything else.. Intel vs AMD, Amiga vs Atari, C64 vs Speccy, nVidia vs 3dfx.. It exists.. deal with it..

Well he likes the idea of bleem! and is looking forward to the release. So I guess he's on the side where he's excited.

I have to give you credit. You are probably the most logical person on this board right now.

I was one of the "newsfeed channels" on the old Node99 emusite and I used to own a C64 so I've been through alot.. but I think that this situation resembles with the SNES emu that went shareware and just dissapeared when Snes9x and others were catching up.. I think it's name was VMSC or VSMC.. something like that..

I Agree, it reads like a bleem ad, which is not a surprise as it has 'buy bleem' at the end . Is this that press release that bleem promised like 6 months ago? Following the hidden bleem board it sums up that Bleem for PC will be updated 'sometime soon' which can be interpeted as before hell freezes over. Also last i checked they didn't know how the pc version would be done, in packs like bleemcast or release a version 2.0 or continue with 1.6. Also meaning that promise of free updates forever isn't worth the paper it's printed on. And seeing as how you mentioned it in your article, i would like to know

"The good thing about Bleem is that although you have to purchase the emulator at first, all upgrades are free, this means that when 1.6 comes out, its yours free, 1.7? Sure, no problem. This is a welcome practice, because of the nature of emulators, you will find its updated quite frequently. "

What frequent updates are you receiving, because as a bleem customer i would also like them.

"Thanks to Bleem!s commitment to excellence, bleemcast should prove to be an excellent product that will vastly expand the number of games capable of being played on a Dreamcast and the amount of gaming hours, and fun, that are to be had on a Dreamcast"

What commitment to excellence? To date they have released only one product (2 if you count the t-shirt)and it hardly shows any commitment to anything.
And frankly as the ps2 sells more units the whole appeal of bleemcast will die off, why buy a program that emulates 100 titles of which you you may only have 5-10 of for that pack, when the ps2 smooths the textures and plays them all right out of the box. And can anyone justify dropping 40$ (i'm Canadian) to improve the eye candy for a handful of games?

If you arn't in the US of A you really don't need the hassle of BleemCast with it's meager 100 games a CD - obviously they want to emulate only what THEY feel is good, just buy a PS2 next year and get a better longer lasting deal, not a Playstation playing fad.
