Bliss 1.01! - December 10,2000 by JoseQ
A new version of Bliss has been released as well! This is labeled as the "Easier to use" version that sees the addition of a front-end (check out a screenshot here). You can get this new release from the Bliss home page, which is hosted here at EmuViews. If you previously downloaded the Win32 version, all you need to get now is the Pure Java version which will update the necessary files in order for you to have the latest version. Hopefully I'll be posting a good number of Intellivision ROMs tonigh, including the system ROMs. Enjoy!

That's great to hear about the speed! I used a professional optimizing tool (OptimizeIt 3.1) to try and eliminate all the major bottlenecks I could before the first release so I'm really glad to hear that it paid off. :-)

For the compatibility, I know exactly what the problem is, and I'm probably going to work on it next. The problem is that the cartridges for the Intellivision all mapped into memory differently, and the information for how to map them into memory is not contained in the cartridge files themselves (the .bin files). Currently, Bliss assumes the exact same memory mapping (the most common one) for all cartridges, and this memory mapping is obviously wrong for some. I'm going to post some info on the web site soon and see if I can find someone who has the information on the mappings for all cartridges to help me out with this.

You can expect compatibility to make a huge leap when I get this part of the work completed.

This thing is pretty amazing. I never thought that I'd see a this kind of speed out of a Java emu. I hope he gets the compatibility up though. Lot's of roms don't seem to work. Maybe Atani will make a native win32 version for an extra speed boost!
