Bliss 1.2 is here! - December 14,2000 by JoseQ
A new version of the recently released Intellivision Emulator known as Bliss has been released! You can get version 1.2 from the Bliss website for both Pure Java and Windows only players. The source for 1.2 is also available. This release has everything the author mentioned before except the configurable controls. This means it has greatly improved compatibility, complete sound and more. Again, if you already downloaded the Win32 version once, all you need to get is the Pure Java version now since you have all the other components already. Enjoy!

Think we'll see Intellivoice support anytime soon!? I'm getting a little anxious about playing Bomb Squad, for the first time since '86.

I would say "yes", but I don't really have a time frame for you. It's in my top 3 list of things to do along with full-screen mode and ECS support.

For all of you finding it slow, go to 'view'....'options' and choose the smallest screen size under 'scaling'.
Mine is playing full speed now thanks to this option.

I'm sorry to hear that. I've noticed a few people who are even running fast systems have slow performance and I think it's because of a weird hardware incompatibility with maybe something in the Java APIs or who knows. How fast is the system you're running it on.

I can tell you for comparison that the system I'm primarily doing development on is a P2-450, and it's runs perfectly with no sound cutting out or anything. It also runs as well on the P3-550 I have, but the P3-650 I have access to has a sucky sound card, and sound will occasionally cut out.

I've tried it on three different PCs: a P166, a P300, and my P600 at work (shhh...). The 166 is completely out of the question, and the 300 isn't much better. The P600 seems to work at an adequate pace, with decent sound but the keyboard input seems somewhat spotty.

I can't figure out what some of the keys used are: number pad, enter, left control, arrows?

I'm having similar problems with my P3/800 at home. The emulator itself seems good, though I noticed some timing problems (such as in Astrosmash) and sound-related glitches in all games, and the keyboard seemed sluggish to respond. In addition, Bliss seems to want to run in spurts (fast-slow-fast-slow) rather than at a constant pace, which makes things pretty much impossible to play.

Left Control appears to be fire 1. Z is fire 2, number keys along the top are the various number keys on the controller, and ENTER is the # key (which was often used for ENTER on the original system).

They're both on the ROM Download section.
