After purchasing a hotrodSE from computers worth on e-bay about a month ago, and I have been only partially stoked since its arrival: an eight direction controller would be most useful, and the hotrod has only four. It really is a beauty, though. If only I could get daisy-chainable (for two players! C'MON NOW!!!!!)dual action playstation style gamepad controllers which worked on both windows and linux platforms(read: NOT MS DirectX B.S#!+...) I guess I'll have to wait for Microshafts' new X-box to come out. Bill-o would be a nut to NOT make a dual action controller which are "backwards compatable" with todays windows machines (win 95/98). Until then, I am sort of "stuck" with this over-underkill controller (overkill with the primo components, yet underkill with the 4-way joystick sensoring).

Subject: I-PAC interface?
From: 207.73.128.234
I recently bought a HotRod SE joystick, but I would like more flexibility in its programming. Where can I get more info on this I-PAC interface?

Subject: Hotrod config
From: 64.161.2.123
I noticed the SE uses the 3 key for coins. Can the Hotrod be configured for the Mame standard or do the emu's need to be setup for the Hotrod (big pain)?

My guess is the new models will have the ability to be setup differently for any use (like the I-PAC interface). In fact buying a Hotrod for $99 and then an I-PAC for $50 may still be cheaper than buying the new Hotrod model!

How do you owners of the SE get around the non-configuability of the Hotrod?

Thanks.

I don't have a hotrod (sigh) but it's my understanding that the DOS version of Mame has a -hotrod command parameter that sets Mame up to use the Hotrod's key layout.

xMame (Unix/Linux port that I use) does not have this parameter, so I guess that if I should ever get my hands on a Hotrod I would have to re-assign the keys in "default.cfg" to match. Not a big problem, really....

That's really weird that Hotrod (SEs, no less) are being sold for half the price. Looks like Hanaho might be cleaning out their inventory for some new Hotrod models?
