New WPCMAME Section... - January 18,2001 by JoseQ
At the request of Steven Ellenof, one of the authors of WPCMAME, I have added all of the Pinball ROMs supports to the ROMs and ROMs Lite pages. WPCMAME is a pinball emulator based on MAME. Of course, the games are not playable, but the electronic circuitry is emulated as well as the display, but there is no playfield or balls. With this in mind, you can still manually activate switches using your keyboard to see the display animations and hear the sounds. A new version (Version 6) was just released actually. You can get both the DOS and Windows versions from the WPCMAME site. There's over 60 games supported, so be sure to take a look at the list and see if you'd like to see one of those games again.

Medieval Madness? What about Black Knight (1981) or Flight 2000. I used to play those babies all night long! All gone now. Medieval Madness I can still play when I'm goin' to town.

Anyone happen to know the sound decoding scheme for any of those?

Steve,

Keep up the good work! With Williams gone from the pin scene, we need pinball emulation more than ever. Good luck with the project.

Don't think that pinball could really ever be emulated though. But hey, this is pretty good.

I used to think so too, but in the next 1-2 months(maybe sooner), you will be totally surprised at what we're working on! ;)
I think we'll change your mind!

Steve,

I've been following the Visual Pinball scene and I hope WPCMame will integrate well with VP. Good luck.

Please tell me you guys are working on a way to reproduce actual pinball machines using a merging of WPCMame and Visual Pinball. Please Please Please! I think it would be so *totally* cool to be able to play a real Twilight Zone or Dr. Who pin on my computer! :)
