MAME32 0.37 Beta 11! - January 20,2001 by JoseQ
Yet another emulator release, and this one with one of the quickest turnaround times. MAME32 has been updated to the latest DOS version, 0.37b11. You can download it from the Emulator Download Page right now! Other than being up to date with the original port, this version has debug capability in full screen mode, and adds support for the two extra buttons in Microsoft's Intellimouse Explorer. Remember that most of the newly supported games are available for download from the ROM pages. Enjoy!

Subject: HotRod SE incompatability?
From: 213.108.30.4
Hi,

I just bought a HotRod SE. A great product, but I have a problem. The player 1 joystick doesn't work in MAME (everything else does including player 2 joystick), but does work in the HANAHO test program and DOS prompt, plus the CAPCOM package that comes with the HotRod. I've altered settings for controllers in MAME but makes no difference. What can I do?? Is there a conflict between MAME and the Capcom program?

Many thanks,
John.

I have a packard bell 500 mhz,amd k6,64mb ram and voodoo 3 2000 pci and almost every game like mortal kombat1 or time killers is very slow. When i play the neo geo games on Neoragex they are quick. I already try the dos version mameb11 k6 optimesed, then the games are a little bit quicker but it is not the real thing.
Could sombody help me please.

Theses machines all use very complex cpu`s, so it takes a lot of power to emulate them, the new williams ones need at least a p3-800 to be playable with sound,

Mame32 is not that much slower than Mame, and is actually faster at playing some of these games now under certain conditions, and as for what was said below about mame in general being unoptimised, thats nothing to do with it, Mame intends to emulate the arcade hardware accuratly, unlike raine, which just gets gets the roms running as quick as possible,

i have a 1GHz Athlon, hercules prophet II MX 32MB AGP, and i built the computer myself. mortal kombat runs just fine with no stuttering. and i can't test my neogeo games because mame32 0.37 beta 11 because now all my neogeo roms seem to be missing some files.

however, my pentium3-550MHz, voodoo3 2000 computer had similar problems running neogeo, mortal kombat, and other similarly large files. according to other forums in which i posted this problem, people generally agree that mame32 is slower and has more problems than the DOS port.

basically, you'll need more processing power to handle those games.

Sorry, its just a fact of life MAME is sloooowww, and with the ever increasing speed of processors the programming team behind MAME probubaly see very little incentive in optimising there work.

I am so glad that Mame32 is getting quicker at being released. I am a big fan of Mame and always look forward to any release - but I have a soft spot for Mame32 as it is just so versatile.

And what a release Mame32 B11 is. Most of the games are real gems.

Thanks again lads - how about BUGGYBOY in the next release - Please :-)
