Ages 0.24a! - February 04,2001 by JoseQ
I seem to have missed this release! Quinntesson released version 0.24a of Ages early today as mentioned previously in the Rumor Mill. You can downlod this latest version from the Emulator Download Page. The list of new things is quite interesting. Among those items listed: Sega CD Music track playing (Sonic CD, here I come!), Sega CD rotation and scaling emulation (as mentioned in the Mill), font conversion graphics, Genecyst state loading, and numerous Sega CD bugfixes for improved compatibility! Be sure to give this emulator a shot!

Holy Crap. I can't believe poeple are actually arguing over sh!tty 32X games. Lord, the 32X was a HUGE discrace. As far as I am concerned, I wouldn't want anybody to lose precious hours making an emulator for the biggest joke that hit consoles ever. Give it a rest, you can buy a 32X and its crap games at flea markets and auctions for practically next to nothing. I

There are alternatives to complaining about everything and calling people communists just to start a flame war:

>>don't like the way a sandwhich tastes at a >>restaurant?
go to a different restaurant and stop whining.

>>don't like the CD that your favorite artist >>made?
listen to something else (there ARE other artists out there)

>>Don't like the news?
Turn the channel (no one is forcing you to watch)

These guys are providing a _FREE_ service. If you were doing something for free for someone else, and they started complaining or tried to force you to do something else, would you appreciate it?

There have already been emulators that have stopped because the authors were sick of hearing criticism, lets try not to make AGES another one.

Well I was voicing my opinion and everyone attacks me!
Right now there is NO compitent 32X emulator? so I dont HAVE any ways of writting any alternatives you asses!
Do you know how LONG I've been waiting to play Startwars 32X? or Virta Racer Deluxe? 32X emulation should have been finished FIRST then more stuff added! It's not even 1/2 assed its like 1/1000000th assed

But of course what one person says or thinks doesn't count. Sig Hail to you Sega CD hardcore enthusiasts

AGES has been able to play VR since last May.
I think that Vegas/GenSX can play it also. Not
to mention the new arcade emulators that can play
the arcade versions of the aforementioned games.

This makes no sense. The non-existence of "compitent" (sic) 32X emulators does not preclude the creation of other functional 32X emulators. Using your logic, no emulator could ever exist since emulators can only be "spawned" from existing emulators. Write a 32X emulator from scratch just as Quinntesson did.

I suspect you've been waiting no longer than 6 years.

However, Star Wars 32X and Virtua Racing 32X are some of the most widely available 32X games in existence. You should have no trouble finding both of them (as well as a new 32X unit) on eBay. You could even sell your computer to buy them (since you wouldn't need it for posting complaints anymore).

You know, Spanky. You go out and write a 32X emulator, make it perfect, then come back and complain. Cause the way I see it, you are just an emulator-baby that wants to play some games for free and from fast downloads. Why don't you go out and buy a 32X and some games if you want to play it so bad.

I mean, sure, there is some level of requesting that is to be expected. They are putting themselves in the spot light, open to both criticism and praise. I think the arguement of "They are doing it for free so shut up!" has both some points, and meanwhile no points towards it. But I would say your complaining is just baby like.

I can agree with all that, you have some good points.

Now to be fair to Quinntesson's intentions we should all just wait till the next release, if no 32X emulation is improved in anyway we will then know his true intentions and goals with Ages. For now, let's just trust him when he says 32X emulation is just asleep.

Come on guys. Emus aren't written overnight. Emulating the Genesis, Sega CD and 32X has never been done before in one program, let alone at all for the 32X and Sega CD. He's doing a great job so far and it's totally out of order to flame him for being slow with new features, it takes a huge amount of work, skill, research and patience to write an emulator, they don't just magically appear. If you think you can do it faster, go right ahead. Otherwise, try and offer constructive critisicm or even thanks rather than complaining that it isn't perfect yet. Of course it isn't, but AGES has got me damn impressed so far.

many scaling gfx break up or show garbled imagery. Some mode7 layers don't work either.

examples of getting there: Thunderhawk, F1 Beyond The Limit.

perfect (bar sound): Tomcat Alley...

not at all: Silpheed

haven't finished testing yet thou. UK PAL games.

Haven't you been paying any attention to the rumour mills?! Quinntesson already said what his priorities are! There are FAR more SegaCD games than 32x games. If I'm also right this is his Senior Project for school, too. He's said he's going to do SCD so LET HIM! Geez.. you lamers get on MY nerves and the author's....
