Dreamer does Katana Demos - February 07,2001 by JoseQ
Emulatronia was updated today with some cool news about Dreamer, the Dreamcast emulator. Apparently it is now capable of supporting a couple of the Katana demos such as "Kamui2Space", "NinjaVMSTest" among other code samples. There's some screenshots available taken from 4 of those samples, so be sure to check them out. The site is in Spanish so just look for the word "Dreamer" in Orange color and try to click on everything you find close to that. Enjoy!

Will this dumping of the console make it safe to emulate without Sega trying to sue?

The official word is that the Dreamcast will be ceasing production shortly, end of March IIRC. Software will continue to be produced for a year more, possibly longer if Sega decides NOT to shaft their customers like they did with the Saturn, 32X, and Sega CD.

Considering that Sega is putting Dreamcast technology into other products, why WOULD they cancel software production? They can still make a killing off the DC by just producing the software for the other manufacturers making the hardware. DC emulation will be perfected in the near future, if the rumors of the PCI DC emulation card are true, and they likely are.

Yeah, Sega is stopping production on the Dreamcast (they have an over-stock of unsold systems as it is), but they are NOT stopping production of software or new titles.

Not true my friend, they said they would stop new software in a year or so.

I read the latest word on IGN and it's no longer gonna be produced, that is why sega is starting to release stuff for GBA, XBOX, and PS2, and maybe Gamecube, look for a BIG price drop before they stop production

So if Sega is dumping this console does it make emulating it safe?

Sega isn't acctually dumping the console, they are still going to make games for it and still will hold the rights to it. But I am glad they aren't dumping the console, because then new games will come out for it, like Sonic 2, Crazy Taxi 2, and so on and so on..........
