Final Burn 0.097! - February 11,2001 by JoseQ
Final Burn has been updated to version 0.097! You can download it from the Emulator Download Section here at EmuViews. For most people, this won't have what they were looking for, support for "Super Street Fighter II". But what many have dreamed for, better "Thunder Blade" support is here. There's more objects shown now (tanks) and there's some improvements to "Power Drift" and "Galaxy Force"'s emulation. Dave has quite had it with the lamer notes, so he's taking a break from the net. You can find more info about his decision from the boards at Retrogames.

won't people just go to some outdated lamer emusite and download old final burn versions and then bitch to Dave about CPS2 bugs?

It's all very well being in a huff and fair enough if you want to stop development in a certain area. But I cannot see the sense in removing the cps2 option completely?? Fine no more progess and concentrate on the afterburner/thunderblade area(should be fun). But stripping away what has already been added makes no sense? The site has all references removed as does the emu, its as if it never existed. What kind of attitude is that. Move on- fair enough. But destroy what has already happened - disgusting. Bit like a book burning if you ask me!

I agree with everything you just stated. REMOVING CPS2 COMPLETELY? man to quit on a task that one has already started on is a cowardly action. You must have really been felt ass $!@#ed when they hacked (exuse me, "renamed" the roms on the emu for super street fighter.) release.97 was to be a great one for the fans who love the games. but instead you release an new version that is complete crap. I deleted that damn program I didn't even run a damn game on it. By backing off so suddenly, well, that tells us all something about you: your a coward. (I own all of my favorite cps2 games so don't think I'm trying to get something for nothing!) Removing cps2 emulation and adding a bug fix for a $!@#ing sh!tty game that great majority of people-many of which are now former fans-don't give a rats ass about, was a big mistake. You dont want to finish the job of emulating cps2 completely? fine, but consider this you shouldn't even have started in the first place you damn quitter. You led on the whole emulation community. I hope you and your emu fades away out of existence.

oh yeah, thank god for mame. (Ok its not perfect but at least they're trying and they arent quitters!)

I liked the CPS2 stuff, but it got completely ridiculous with all the lamers. I'm glad he took it out, if it was causing him stress or anything, then he had all the reason. It's his emulator and nobody has a right to tell him what to do, or even judge him for that matter. I'm saying thanks just for having it as long as we did. Thanks Dave, I would have done the same thing had I been in your position, and I think many others would too.

Man this is so funny and very interesting. This guy Dave seems to be very upset at the CPS2 emulation scene. He took of CPS2 emulation in 0.97 completely and took of the link for CPS2 Geoshock. This guy is very steamed.

I don't think we'll see and cps2 games for a very long time. Oh well it was fun while it lasted.

Actually Dave didn't make the decision to cut CPS2 until he was sure that someone else had CPS2 emulated. Despite what ungrateful lamers might think Dave is a very fair and reasonable man. You won't be waiting long at all.

well as far as im concerned final burn was just a cps2 emu
ive deleted v9.7 of my HD and will now play the 5 cps2 games i do have on v9.6
i like daves way of thinking
'lets punish the 95% of people who arnt lamers'
oh and thanks for trying to steal back cps2 emulation by not telling us that its not supported in v9.7

You, twat, he didn't do it out of spite, or punishment. If dealing woth these people makes developing his emu no longer fun, then he by all means should stop. It's not punishment, it's just no longer fin for him to do. CPS2 will be emulated elsewhere very soon, so cool your jets, and be glad for what you got when you did. You waited how many year for CPS2 emulation? Surely a bit longer for SSF2 won't kill you.

Real Emu fanatics don't care that much about CPS2 since it's still too new.. The real ones care about the systems that are no longer being manufactured nor developed.. Can't really say that CPS2 falls into that category since the games are still being made on that system.. About suicide boards on CPS2.. sure there are those boards but there are boards that contain Turbo Outrun and other older games that are fading away.. There are still alot of SSF2T boards out there.. but how many are Turbo Outrun? Not that many people seems to be interested in decrypting it and the guy who was the bootlegs, he wants to make a business out of it.. I think that this was a bit of clarification on the real emu fanatics..

I think it is good that games like Thunder Blade are getting some attention. Surely it should be quality rather than quantity. My only gripe about emulator authors is that rather like celebs they don't like the attention it brings (lamers etc) every day kids and adults alike discover emulation and are not all computer wiz kids. They ask a few maybe unneccessary questions and don't realise how much mail an author may recieve. Hey who said anyone was perfect? have a little patience, we all had to start somewhere.

Thinks it is a good idea for auther to remove cps2, It might be the needed break Dave needs. His hard work been very amazing thus far,and it gives him some time to fix old bugs. All this been very entertaining, but think about who getting hurt here. FinalB and Dave doesn't need to take all of the unnecessary heat from all the cps2 hype and pressure. I'm shure cps2 will be back Dave wouldn't go this far in his work to stop at a couple setbacks from some juvenile begging and harassments.

That's why I urge people to THINK FIRST before they post.

Whether this site sucks or not is purely a matter of opinion. Since it's run by just one person, JoseQ, and he's got a life outside of emulation as well, I'd say he's doing a pretty damn good job of providing for us.

Plus, I like the scope of what he posts news about - go to VG-Network to see an example of a place that posts about EVERYTHING emu-related, and you *might* see why I prefer the smaller, more filtered news postings here.

Just because we have good taste, and dont give two pieces of monkey crap what After Burner is, doesn't mean that we're "lamers." And what is with that word "lamers"? Every damn site The Mock goes to he sees CPS2 and lamers in the same god damn sentence, what's with your vocabulary? Is lamer the only word you know how to say? Well The Mock leaves you with these words. Just because Dave was tired of rising from the dead everytime a new CPS2 game came out, doesn't mean he had to stop the emulation. And I think I speak for everyone who likes CPS2 games when i say Dave is the biggest piece of TRAILER PARK TRASH THE MOCK HAS EVER SEEN! So Dave this is what The Mock wants you to do. Ok, calm down... All the people who think that Dave is their slave and feel the need to call him names when he doesn't serve them instananeously, would constitute "lamers", and all of the (ver numerous) Sega Arcade fans never seemed to have this problem, but when CPS2 was added, they started climing out of the woodwork. Those are the facts, interpret them any way you choose.

I personally think the SEGA hardware in games like AFTER Burner is pretty darn cool. even though I think Dave's little delete the CPS2 support without telling is a bit unneccesary. ""Least i wasn't stupid enough to delete the 0.96 version like the other half-million people at retrogames did""

I would have to say at this point I would completely advocate the idea of CPS2Shock relasing no further decryption tables.. at least for some time.. because it seems a major percentage of the 'emulation scene' has just proven they don't have the maturity to handle it without making fools of themselves. I sincerely hope the CPS2Shock team is listening...

People should note that this release HAS NO CPS2 support. Dave has decided to take it out completely. Get ready for a huge upset from the lamer groups.

I think it's great that Final Burn is constantly updated. Too bad those lamers have gotten to Dave. I know that I appreciate a good(FREE) emulator. Some lamers don't know how good they've got it until it's gone.
