Dreamer does Namco Museum! - February 13,2001 by JoseQ
It seems that Dreamer, the only existing Dreamcast emulator, is showing the first signs of life on commercial games. If you visit Emulatronia, you can see about 5 screenshots of the emulator running "Namco Museum" with "Pac-Man" in action. There's no word about the CPU where this is running but it shows it's running at around five frames per second. I'm pretty certain it will require a top of the line machine, at least the first few versions of the emulator. The update on the site also says that it will be quite a while before the emulator is out, and I'm sure it will be even longer before it has a good compatibility rate, so if you want to play Dreamcast games, there's really only one thing you can do; get a Dreamcast. And for less than $100, you shouldn't be thinking twice about doing it. With that many games at sale prices around the country, you can't go wrong.

It could be just a trick.... they'll make games for the other systems for a few years. (While still making AWESOME arcade games) then all of a sudden in like 2008 or something they will make the SEGA Awesome-down with nintendo- machine that will destroy Sony. HaHa!!

Long Live SEGA!!!!!!

Facts:

DreamCast was a very neat machine, yet it is now discontinued.
PlayStation 2 SUCKS big time, at least the european (PAL) version sold here in Portugal, games are all-in-grafics-no-joy-in-gameplay AND they are SLOOOOW!!!
The Nintendo GameCube success will depende on marcheting strategies, yet I will hold no breath.
X-Box is looking like it's going to be the "new thing" in console stuff, if they produce games fitting the console hardware, we will see some good stuff in a near future.
GameBoy Advance however, carry's out the prize of "probably will be the most successfull console of the near future".
Even with a recent emulator, it will not die, it will continue the sucess of the GameBoy and GameBoy Color, selleing HUGE amouts of simple yet FUN games, because the whole thing about the GameBoy is that it's easy to carry. You can play it anywere, and let's face it: that's just not emulable.

SEGA may have died out as an hardware maker (I dare to say that this is not permanent) but they still posess the same Magic and Quality when they make their games.

No doubt it's a great achievement of programming, but could anything else kick the DC when it's down more than this? Just as SEGA announce they need to recoup *some* profits to stay alive with the price drop someone goes and makes this kind of breakthrough.. :(

I have always been a Sega zealot. I have everything from the master system on up. And over 200 games I paid for. I've always supported them and their systems. I even stuck up for the saturn when people bashed it. But when sega decided to make games for the PeeSX2, they lost all my respect. Most die hard sega zealots are also die hard sony haters. After all, Sony has killed TWO awsome sega systems to provide scrubby gamers with scrubby games (tekken tag anyone?). Now I pirate as much saturn and DC stuff as possible. And I'd love to see the DC emulated, not for piracy, but to keep the DC alive. It is an awsome system and does not deserve to die so soon. So to sum it all up: !@#$ Sega, $!@# Sony, !@#$ Nintendo, all hail Microsoft, the Xbox will rule all.

No doubt, Sony DOES suck...
Also I'm a Sega fan... I also bought a Saturn when everyone was laughing at it. ^_^
(at least it had a good version of Marvel Super Heroes Vs. Street Fighter, hahaha !!!)

Well, I respect Nintendo, but I think it sucks that Sega is developping games on Game Boy Advance... :|

Has the Sega boss been changed while I was away ?

Is it $100.00 well spent? I mean if it's got some really good RPG's or Survival horror titles I might get one

At $100, it's a steal. For RPG's, I recently finished Grandia 2. If you've ever played Star Ocean:2nd Story, you have a good idea about how the game plays. The story/plot is good, the graphics are great, the music is great, and it took me over 40 hours to finish the game. Of course, the biggest telling thing about the game was, I played nothing else until it was done- it sucked up all my free time.

Absolutely. With 3 Resident Evil titles, Dino Crisis, and several more survivor horror; and several great RPG's including Phantasy Star Online, it really is worth it.
Beats the sh!t out of the PS2, which is currently just a lame DVD player on top of a PSX that everyone already has, and a few games that really aren't worth it yet.

Better add Grandia 2 and Skies of Arcadia to that list- 2 great RPG's.
