Mimic Update... - February 18,2001 by JoseQ
BeaverMan is back to his weekend coding and of course an update at the Mimic website was in order. The first update of the weekend dealt with the no-ROMs change at Guruchoc's Arcade ROM Heaven. That definitely is a blow to the whole emulation scene, and it was discouraging to Michael to say the least. On the Mimic topic however, there's been some nice progress although there's some major roadblocks thanks to Microsofts compiler. A second update shows "Space Invader" in action as apparently it's part of the Mimic lineup of supported games. Check the site out for all those details.

With CPS2 decrypted and GBA emulated even before the system comes out, things are going to get downright messy in the months to come.

I suggest you stock up on the roms you want from the sites left while you can. Once the Gameboy Advance is released and the warez groups start dumping these roms, Nintendo is going to jump very *hard* on emulation-- and they'll bring the IDSA with them for the stomping party. I'm surprised Capcom hasn't issued a cease and desist over CPS2 yet, or tried.

I'm so sad to see that this site has been forced to get rid of it's roms.

I don't know who's put the wind up Guru, but really can't see the problem here.

What damage can be done to companies by providing roms for arcade machines that are no longer for sale ?

There are sites out there providing NOT EVEN YET RELEASED Gameboy Colour roms, which IMHO is really damaging.

Miss you already Guru et al :(

Oh nooo, no more roms around? Well...I wonder if game manufacturers really care if I've 2gb roms on my hd... WHO CARES? WHAT'S THE MATTER, HM? How can we damage manufacturers by having roms of games that are no more for sale???
