The Rumor Mill! - March 01,2001 by JoseQ
Here I am, once again, one day late since I've been too busy this week. It seems that the amount of work at my daytime job has picked up for good, but hopefully I'll catch a breather soon. Catching a cold hasn't helped too much either. Nevertheless, I'm here once again with a bag'o'Rumors for you as usual. Better late than never right? This week I have rumors from: Bliss, Smog, Ages, BDM/KGB, and Gens. This edition might be on the short side, but I'm sure you will enjoy some of the rumors on it. Let's get it on!
On the Bliss side of the news, we have spotted Kyle working on IntelliVoice support managing to get a good handle on it! It almost seems as if this was ready to be launched soon! For those unfamiliar with IntelliVoice, it was an add-on component that provided speech for those games that supported it, among them: "B-17 Bomber" which is almost unplayable without it. Our reports indicate that this might make it out as soon as this weekend! So keep an eye out for it!
On the SMOG camp, the author has been seen working on getting more games to produce sound as he did with "Virtua Racing". However, his attempts at finding good dumps haven't turned out to be too succesful as of yet. The latest that my spies have seen him doing, is trying to get the sound in "Virtua Fighter" working. Hopefully, he will find the way soon, and I will definitely try to get the scoop for you to listen to as soon as that happens!
I did get a funny Rumor report from the AGES camp. Here's the funny part: Quinntesson just finished a 100% working Dreamcast emulator with sound, and it performs at 60 Frames per Second on a Pentium III 500MHz! Of course, we all know that's not true, although it would be a dream come true given how much Quinntesson (and myself) love that machine! If you want some serious rumors, the next version of AGES will have ZIP support. He has also been spotted improving the FM sound support.
Some sad rumors from the Beaten Dying Moon, a Gameboy emulator that sadly never materialized publically. The author doesn't seem to be working on the emulator anymore, plus it doesn't look like he will be picking it up anytime soon. He's quite busy as of late with school and other things, and doesn't really think he'll continue work on his Gameboy emulators. Kind of sad, but fully understandable, as there's plenty of things that should take priority over emulation as a hobby. Good luck with everything Matt!
And last, but certainly not least as you will find out. A short but cool rumor from the GENS base. Not much work gone into the emulator in the past week or so, but hang on to your pants as there seems to be a release planned to hit the street soon! So be advised, keep a close eye on the GENS site (and this one) for this cool Genesis emulator update!
Well, as mentioned above, this edition was a bit short, but then again, the last time this happened, we had some pretty cool goodies the next week. So until next week, Qmeister signs off, and thanks for reading!

I got the bloody 32X at from a clerk's little booth at a flea market for $15.00 + Three games, the 32X itself was never opened (Star Wars, Viruta Racing Deluxe and Virtua fighting) If you look up the definition of the word screwed you will see a picture of that flea market clerk

Well ppl with Genesis Power going or gone, getting access to 32X roms will be really rough, unless you got them on CD like I do, Quintesson unless people who weren't so fortunate find a good source for 32X roms, you're 32X emulation is too little too late

Hey JoseQ, in a rumor mill a few months ago you mentioned that one of the top mamedevs was working on a driver for Buck Rogers and Subroc, and that it would likely make it in during the current Mame cycle. Have your spies heard anything new on this?
