Bliss in C++? Soon! - March 11,2001 by JoseQ
Well, I did get a few reports in for a Rumor Mill to be posted on Thursday. However, I was so busy with everything that I didn't manage to post anything. One of those reports was the up and coming C++ port of Bliss! Yes, this awesome Intellivision emulator is going to have a C++ version available soon! This will probably come with a huge speed improvement as well as a greatly reduced download file! The main reason behind this move? Possible ports to more than a handful of decently support platforms by Java: such as Dreamcast and Playstation 2! It's coming along quite nicely so just visit the Bliss site to learn all about it!

I hate the Java version. When Bliss tries to change screen resolutions, it crashes my PC. And I have a celeron 700 w/ 96 megs of ram and a 32 meg gforce2...Whats up with that??

But for those of you who are looking for the IVOICE.bin rom, email me at
disko74@bellsouth.net. I gots it.

I'm looking forward to seeing the C++ version. It'll run much faster than Java and most likely have far less compatibility issues than the Java version. It'll be slightly less portable, though - there'll be specific code to be compiled for each different platform - particularly Windows, with DirectX stuff. But if done properly, it will blow away the Java version without question!

I had thought about taking up a C++ port myself, since I have the tools and access to a DirectX SDK, but I don't have the time or the patience to do it myself. =/ It's great to hear that this'll be happening anyway. =)
