Ngine snes9x0.40! - March 22,2001 by JoseQ
A new version of Ngine snes9x has been released. For those that don't know, Ngine snes9x is nothing else than an Snes9x port to the Dreamcast platform. Version 0.40 adds game saving/autoloading from the VMU, preferences saving for video modes, improved command line for keyboard users. As usual, there's also some fixes and some changes as well, so be sure to check the website and/or documentation for all the details. You'll have to visit the website though for the download and information on how to get it working.

Yea most of the emulators on Dreamcast do have bad sound, but then again most of them are in their first few releases and you know how the sound is on the PC when new emulators are released. Anyway my fav of the emulators is the SegaGen which is the hacked version of the Smash Pack put out by Sega (and I guess would be based on KGen which they bought a long time ago). The sound isn't perfect there either but most of the games play great with full speed. I have been enjoying the sega genesis port of Jeopardy and is great to play on my television. Even Sonic 3D blast plays well although the fmv's are messed up. As far as this release of NGINE goes I can't get it to burn properly using disk juggler or nero, and in fact haven't been able to get to run any of the SNES emulators for Dreamcast. Don't know why they burn properly but lock up for some reason, all the other emulators (and I have burned them all) work fine.

Man emulation on Dreamcast is progressing fast. I just love it. The emulators work great and are fun to play with the dreamcast controllers. I have burned every emulator made so far and am having a blast fun to play on my bigger tv screen than my vga monitor. Long live the Dreamcast (at least as a hobbiest machine). On another note I Picked up D2 for $14.99 Ecco for $15.99 and Gauntlet Legends for $19.99, man the Dreamcast has great graphics and sound, just love it. Anyone else out there tried the emulatos, and what's everyones favorite Dreamcast game?
