A Couple of News Items - October 17,1998 by SpectorX
A couple of news bits have happened since yesterday buthad found no place to put them. Initially the very greatRaine, which is by far the emulator that plays more gamesthat are not supported by MAME, has added support forDarius Extra. This emulator is one to watch for as it hasbeen growing inmensely in the past few months. Kudos goto Richard Bush and Mario Silva, his helper, as they makean incredible team and an incredible emulator as well.
NAZ of NAZ @ Retrogames, known for his ROM dumpings, has released a new ROMset called Cyberball. Apparently thisgame is from the same generation as other Atari games alreadyemulated but contains twin Motorola chips which may make itslower to emulate. It is suspected that this may be for dualplay in dual monitors.
A site you may want to visit if you're a StormWatchfan. StormWatch is a comic published by Image, and there'sa new site dedicated to it. You can to Storm-Netto read Reviews of those comics among other thing. The owneris a friend of mine, and also regular at #mame. His nickthere is SoulCtche.
NeoCharity, has released another Neo Geo game. This time, the name ofthe game is Kizuna Encounter Super Tag Battle. Its a newfighter that betters on Savage Reign and adds features likeTag Team battles. There are many mirrors to download this15MB file from NeoCharity, go there.
A New RetroRadio has been transmitted since early yesterday. Shane Monroe discusses the various aspects of thelegality of Emulation and the current popularity of Retrogaming. This should be a pretty good listening time foreveryone, and a must download for fans of the show. Keepit Retro!
NSFE/True Reality project has been making numerous updates to thepage detailing its progress. A new debugger has been addedto the emulator and the disassembler is nearing completion. This is one of the most advanced N64 projects as of yet,and one to keep a close eye on.
Snes9X has alsomade a couple of releases. The Amiga port of its latestincarnation has been released as well as the Solaris versionwhich I had the chance to play. Super Mario Kart is nowplayable as you can ride through the track if you don't mindthe sprites (other competitors as well as the pipes) movenot according to the map. It is still real good progressand should probably be fixed soon. Kudos to Jeremy Koot forhis amazing SNES emulator.
That's it for now... Thanks for reading!
