RockNES 1.900 - April 15,2001 by JoseQ
A new version of RockNES comes out, and with it, many questions about it's future. I'll talk about the questions in a moment, but first, here's a link to the Emulator Download Page from which you can get this new release. So what's the future of RockNES looking like? 'Always changing is the future' it seems... While a 'final' release was mentioned with the news posted a few days ago, that post dissappeared shortly after with no comments to be found about it. The new release has a request for feedback as usual, which could only mean that the author would like to have releases in the future. What happened to the old post? I really don't know, and can only hope it was a prank. I guess we'll find out more in the near future.

Why would someone abandon what may be the best NES emulator and then hoard the code. There is no practical gain in doing soon, unless there is a chance that RockNES will one day be revived.

Of course I have the right to discontinue my project for any reason, but since my "quick" announcement, there are _more_ problems, pissing me off... :)

I will take the right decision in a few days.

Yes, RockNES is no more, I just deleted that post, but not my decision. YouŽll see the official "bye" (and the "why?")when RockNESX come out. The other ports will be updated to 1.900 as well (Linux & MacOS) soon.

I'm pretty sorry to hear that. I really enjoy playing RockNES, and I am VERY pleased with the quality and near perfect emulation. It's a great way to play my favorite games, when my NES is just about busted (works every once in a while).
