New PinMAME! - April 22,2001 by JoseQ
Version 0.99 Beta 2 versions of PinMAME and Visual PinMAME have been released at the PinMAME website linked above. New in this version is improved System 11 Multiplexed solenoid handling, adds the capability for different LCD layouts to core (only working in "High Speed" and "Comet" at the moment), adds mechanics simulation for some games and much more. I still haven't gotten into this new emulation trend as I'm afraid to get instantly hooked on it and never see the light of day again, but I've only heard great things about it. So if you haven't tried it out, be sure to do so soon.

How well does an AMD K6/333 with 128 megs do with the DOS version? My fiancee Wild Squall wants to play it on her system and I've told her *from my knowledge* that a 500 mhz is required...

Am I wrong? Could the 'older' tables at least play? *the non roms tables* :) On her system?

well i have tried out one board. Indy 500 on k62-350 mghz processor and 128 megs of ram. I had to take the sound out to play it, but it was still loads of fun.

Thanks for the Pins Dorsola! You did Twilight Zone, right? It's my FAVORITE! :)

I'd love to take credit for it, but no. I'm making changes to it and keeping version control on it, but the original table was done by an anonymous author.

One thing I *can* take credit for, though, is the graphical clock simulator that's in place for version 1.9 of the table (which I just released last night). Because of the new VPinMAME release and the new features it provides, I can now say that that sim is completely my own work, with only the center "GI_2" light (the flashing clock backlight) being done by someone else.

Tom Haukap provided the basis for a functional clock simulator in previous table releases, which was semi-accurate to 15 minutes by reading switches. I designed the graphical sim based on that. I was able to replace his code with a more accurate code with the new VPinMAME because I can now read the exact position of the clock hands from VPinMAME. =)

http://www.descent2.com/dorsola/vpt_tz_19.zip if you want to download this most recent version. It's probably hosted on Nicky_Special's site as well, by now.

Look for an Indianapolis 500 table soon! John Harwood and I have been working on that - he's doing the table layout and most of the VPinMAME scripting, and I've been concentrating on getting the Turbo Lock working. Interesting little mechanism... ;-)

I didn't know about pinmame untill I read this post...
*greate site*

To anyone who hasn't tried pinmame/visualpinball DO NOT try it unless:
You have 6 hours of sparetime (min..)
and atleast a 400+MHz processor...
DSP emulation is FAAAR from optimized

All you who do however:
*sniff*
Happy gaming!!!!

Not long ago *on the MAME board* I offered to scan some flyers that had pictures of Pinball Machine tables, however, noone took me up on my offer (?)

Here's what I have...*YES, I know some are in Pin MAME already but I'm listing them ALL, 'k?

Silverball Mania, Gorgar, Lazer Ball, James Bond 007, Torch, Frontier, Panthera, Buck Rogers *not very good piccy*, Future Spa, Star Race *not very good piccy*, Counter force *ok piccy*, Genie *ok piccy*, Viking, Circus, *never very good piccy*, Blackout *ok piccy*, Spider Man *ok piccy*, Incredible Hulk, Timeline *poor piccy*, Hotdoggin, Ground Shaker, Mystic, Dolly Parton, Meteor, Fire Power...

My offer stands, I'll scan these into whatever format is requested and either e-mail them or FTP them to a Visual Pin person, but I'll need to know who to send it to and the format, I'd *prefer* to send it to someone who can *share* the information with others, but whoever asks, gets *within reason*...

Anyways, I want to contribute, and am willing to do what I can, sorry I have no Pinbot flyer :(

-Chris.

Yeap, always happy to add to the archive. I have some real tough ones to find.

>>>Anyways, I want to contribute, and am willing to do what I can, sorry I have no Pinbot flyer :(

You can send them directly to me at the moment. My email is shivasc@home.com

I'm also setting up a system for the regular contributors to upload directly into the server as well, but that's a way off.

Good timing, as I am in the process of a MAJOR expansion of the flyer archive. Just gonna start on the solid state ones at the moment, ems will be later.

Best would be jpeg. standard resolution, as long as there are no artifacting in the image. A lot of people use the flyer images for their tables, so the best quality, the better.

Thanks

Your e-mail is on the site, right?
Do you mind if I put all the scans into a zip file? That should help make one e-mail easier...

PinMAME is so cool... it's like discovering MAME all over again :)))

the **only** disappointing thing about it is that Genie (anyone remember?) has not been done yet :)

I'm totally impressed, my hat's off to all of you at PinMAME and VisualPinball, you guys rule :)

I'd hafta agree with Stein, here. I've been playing the Twilight Zone, like mad, since the day VPinMAME came out. But I'd hafta go one step further and say I enjoy Pinball much better than I enjoy video games (100% more gameplay value in pinball), and being able to have the ability to play all of these old tables (and newer ones!) is a godsend.

My hats off to the authors of PinMAME and Visual Pinball.

Now one question... Why is the sound get kinda staticy after a few seconds of play. I thought it was the volume, but it's like that no matter how low the volume is.. I'm beyond all the system requirements.. Can anyone help??
