The Rumor Mill! - April 25,2001 by JoseQ
Welcome to another edition of the Rumor Mill. You might have noticed that this week has been a bit light on news, and it seems the rumor bag is just as light this time. However, I do have some that will interest you as usual. What's in the bag? I've got FreezeSMS, Genital68K, TR64, Zeograd's stuff, Bliss, RockNESX and Mimic. So let's see what's been happening around the underground world of emulation...
First up is FreezeSMS. Last time we checked on Freezey, we mentioned a release should happen in the near future. The latest report show that the release is being finalized at the time of this writing. How soon it will be found on the street I don't really know, but I guess this means very soon. The report on it came in kind of thin and lacking details, but hopefully it'll be out before long.
On the Genital68K front, I've learned that progress has continued on the 68010 emulation. Most of the hard stuff that Bart wanted to implement is already completed. The target completion date for this project is actually this weekend, so I'm sure Peter Dabb is waiting on it to see how it works out with his CDi emulator, which he called CD-ice.
Moving along to TR64... The latest report I received indicates that WIP6 is coming along a bit slower than previously anticipated. As a result, there will be an intermediate release labeled WIP5.5. This version will include an auto-timing setting that as a result, should make the emulator be more accurate when compared to a real N64 in terms of timing. Along with this, it seems Azimer's HLE audio plug-in is also going to be released. So stay tuned for those packed together when the day comes.
Actually about Zeograd and his PC Engine development, I've been asked (threatened! j/k) not to tell a whole lot about it. I did get a sneak peek at what the sprites are looking like, and I must say I can't wait to see more. While developing a game is a lot of hard work, I do hope that Zeograd can pull this off, and the team behind this gets my full support and praise for it.
Investigations surrounding the Bliss base have brought out a few interesting tidbits. The Xanadu source code release has triggered some very cool happenings. A new guy has picked it up and given that he has more experience working with DirectX than Kyle does, he has been able to fix some of the issues related to this API. Hopefully, he should be able to take care of all these problems. Once that happens, his changes will be integrated into Xanadu and the DirectX sections on Bliss, and new releases will come out, with the name changes mentioned in the latest Rumor Mill. Check those out happening in the near future.
The pictures that got here from the RockNESX development area indicate that the 'to-do' list from Ale includes 29 items still. Once that is completed, we should see a release, however, I wouldn't think those will go quickly, so be a bit patient about it. I've also heard that the NetPlay feature included in this emulator will be very cool.
On the Mimic front, Qmeister found out that 6502 emulation is on target for this week's development sessions. This might actually end up with Mimic doing the NES as well! Other than that, Mike has also improved the SMS and SystemE sound emulation considerably, so expect to see some info on that on the website soon, or maybe some pics? It seems Mimic will also try to get some more unemulated ROMs out into the emulated world, although these seem to be mostly Poker games... we'll see more about that soon I hope.
Well guys and gals, that's everything I had in the bag this week. By next week, there should be more cool stuff heading the Rumor way, so be sure to tune in again. Ah, here's the usual EV Rumor for the end. How would you like to receive Rumors in your mailbox as they come in? Maybe it'll be a feature here soon along with more goodies by mail. Until next week, Qmeister signs off, and thanks for reading!

Guys, just ignore this person from proxy.freesurf.fr . He's obviously only trolling and trying to make trouble.

Nobody is trying to discourage real feedback, either positive or negative. But it's really not that difficult to tell the difference between real, honest to goodness feedback, and simple spams and trolls designed to get on peoples' nerves.

He's already proven his intelligence. Don't lower yourselves to his level.

Long time no see ;) Seen any cool bongs lately LOL (inside joke).

But I pretty much agree with ya here. These losers trolling here are quite a pathetic breed. What's really disturbing, is that their lives are so sad, that it comes down to them deriving desperately needed attention on forums like this.

Thanx goodness there's still a few decent, clued-in people walking this sphere. The numbers appear to be dwindling however ;)~

There's a saying... that the planet has only a set number of intelligence points to give out to its population. As the population increases, the intelligence per person, on average, tends to go down. :)

I'd really like to know how old that person is and how he handles everyday life situations.

Anyway, just a thought, keep up the good work JoseQ !

Azimer's plugin is already out :) v0.1 came with Daedalus 0.04b and he released another standalone yesterday. With the improved timing in TR64 5.5 it might have some chance of sounding good... ;)

Any news on this? They said a release of Monaco GP was coming soon, but that was a while ago. I'd really like to see this emulator(simulator)
