Projec64 is released! - May 27,2001 by JoseQ
Remember that 'mysterious Nintendo 64 emulator' mentioned in the Rumor Mill last week? Well, it's none other than Project64, released to the public today by Jabo (JNes) and Zilmar (famous from his plugin specification). You can download the first version of this emulator from the Emulator Download Page. This is considered a beta release going out to the public, but it should already feature graphics and sound emulation. The compatibility rate seems great for a first release. You can read all about the emulator from Smiff's Help FAQ section. Enjoy!

I waited a long time for an emulator that is capable of playing Zelda - Majora´s Mask. This is the only one that can do it with nearly perfect grafix. I only hope that the guru that made Corn will give out one time in future his CPU-Emulation that is by far 4 times faster than ALL existing N64-HLEs that are out - a symbiosys with this emu would be best!

Make no mistake, this ones great!
The only problem like with all other N64
Emulators (except ultrahle) is the sound. Even on high spec machines with max buffering the audio still skips big time. I hope this is fixed soon.

I`m using Azimers audioHLEv12b, that works great,almost no skipping on a p3.

Regards
Tim.

I`ve got the buffer on lowest with pj64 set on 60fps max.
Make sure you restart the emu after setting the sound up.

It has great potential, Goldeneye, 1080, Banjo, Zelda oot, all run well.
Daedalus and now this... things are looking good.

It runs many games and is very promising. One advice: Try to use Pj64's D3D plugin (JABO) with TR64, it will run F-zero really good! Try it with TR64 and you'll be impressed!

First emulator I've ever had that could let me play 1080 at all......It locked up before I finished the first race....but makes no difference to me. I know with active development, it will only be time before it works flawlessly. Was smooth as silk on my Geforce 256 DDR with Duron 700. Great work guys.

It's very slow on my Voodoo 3, but it's the best active N64 emulator. Compatibility is not so great, but what works, works really amazing!
