The Rumor Mill! - May 30,2001 by JoseQ
Welcome boys and girls, it's time once again for that weekly edition of The Rumor Mill, exclusively at JoseQ's EmuViews! This week I got considerably more reports than last week, so I'm all excited. Let's see what's in the bag. Hmm, I've got some info on Zeograd's HuC, SMOG, a new Sega System C emulator, a nice looking FPSE screenshot just to tease two days before release, some Bliss, and details from another new Sega console emulator. Things are looking quite cool on the emulation scene, so let's dig into those rumors right away!
First a small bits of things I'm seeing in the recently installed crystal ball here. We're seeing Bart Trzynadlowski planning on starting his Saturn 68K debugger. He's also waiting to receive some useful information on the Saturn, so that project is a bit on hold, but I'm looking forward to whatever Bart is doing... The crystal ball WAN is expanding shortly, so expect more reports from that in the next few Rumor Mills (or even this one).
The report that came in from my people surrounding the Zeograd camp has some info on the HuC compiler which recently saw a beta release. It seems the final version is being completed which could be out as soon as this weekend. Expect this by Sunday at the earliest.
The bit of news from the SMOG development lab are quite encouraging. While the website has been real quiet and I haven't had any rumors about it in some time, I've been receiving word that the emulator is still alive. In fact, the website should be updated in the near future with an update on the author's progress. The author has had some nice support from a lot of people so he continues to work, albeit slowly, on it. I'm personally looking forward to the update on the website myself.
This also from the new crystal ball... A new Sega System C emulator is in the works, and I even captured a screenshot using the data port on the ball. The screenshot shows Sega's "Columns" game and you can take a peek at it here. I can't tell who is working on this emulator but I'll find out soon enough, and of course, I'll let you know then.
A bit of an eye candy screenshot I snagged off the FPSE area just two days before this much awaited release. The screnshot shows the PAL version of "Gran Turismo 2" running. Here's the title screenshot that I received. I'm sure we'll see a lot more from that game, and others, once the emulator hits the streets on Friday.
And the last thing I could catch in my crystal ball was another new Sega emulator, aiming at emulate the Genesis in this case. While this emulator hasn't hit the public yet, it's status will be quite surprising when it comes out. It's pretty fast, compatibility is quite high, works in Windows using DirectX, has complete Sound emulation and more. I have talked to some of the people that have tested the emulator and they're quite impressed with it. Release date? I hear it should come out within the next few weeks! The website for the emulator is actually in the works, and while the image on the ball is fuzzy, it looks like the name will be Xega. More details should come up as the release date gets closer.
And last but not least, a little screenshot from the Bliss camp. I actually got two reports from this spy group, as they found out Atari 5200 emulation improving pretty quickly. The second report included a screenshot that you might enjoy. You can see the screenshot here. No word on release date, but I assume that with Kyle's amazing talent, it should happen fairly quickly.
Well guys and girls, that's all I have in the bag for the Rumor Mill today. As usual, I hope you enjoyed reading through. Until next week, Qmeister signs off, and thanks for reading!

Definitly no, the Buck Rodgers rom doesn't work on any emulator because it has a bad header (Kgen98 has a hack to make it work).
The rom need to be patched, you can find the patch at http://www.eidolons-inn.de

Last I'd heard something in relation to Retrocade was lost in an HD crash. I believe it was the website, but they may have lost some code too.

Considering the amount of time that has passed without a word, I guess the Windows version that was coming has become vaporware, and the project is dead.

If someone can prove me wrong, I'd be happy to hear that, though.
