ZSNES Updated to 1.29! - June 01,2001 by JoseQ
Speaking of best-in-it-class emulators, ZSNES has been updated to version 1.29. You can download this latest release from the Emulator Download Page (DOS and Windows versions are here, you'll have to visit the ZSNES page for the Linux port). This version implements triple buffering in full screen mode, optimized DirectDraw code which actually makes the emu faster (!!), some games working again, and much more! Check out the whatsnew.txt file for all the details! Enjoy!

I have both. I try running a ROM under both, and then use the emulator that runs that ROM best.

ZSNES definnently has better compatibility, but in SNES9X games looks very cool. And that's enough for me.

When I downloaded this and tried to run it I get the DINPUT8.DLL not found... I could run the older versions fine. I've even downloaded the emu off of its website and Zophar's and I get the same thing. Can anyone help me?

It says in the docs, that you HAVE TO HAVE at LEAST DirectX8.0 (and maybe 8.0a, it's reccommended) for the Windows version. If you're using the DOS or Linux, I don't use the DOS version anymore, and I don't have a Linux, so I can't help there.

I think that Zsnes is THE BEST Snes emu out there! It's now being updated quite often, has A LOT of compatability, and has better sound support in games than Snes9X. A nice feature is Netplay support in the Windows version, which is pretty fun!

Hm. I think that ZSNES is okay, but compared to Snes9x, the compatability is far worse. ...just try to play just about any japanese game on ZSNES, and you'll see what I mean. Traverse, Marvelous, and many others don't work at all - and most other japanese games have graphics problems. :(
