Screenmania Update! - June 14,2001 by JoseQ
Opi has done it again! A new update at Screenmania with literally thousands of new screenshots! The new titles include even 6 games for the recently released Gameboy Advanced console from Nintendo. The NES section has now opened also with 6 titles, one title in a new Amiga section, with the same being done for Sega Genesis. The biggest addition comes from the Commodore64 land with 41 new titles being showcased. Check the site out, it's always cool to look at these screenshots. Thanks to Opi for the news.

Well Claim, I merely made an observation without personal attacks, something you are obviously incapable of. The comment about working in McDonalds though false in regards to me is a sad indication of why Jose had to take the message boards down.
Your derogatory comments about McDonalds workers screams your level of maturity! What if I did work at McDonalds, this makes you a better person then me. Blanket statements like that are a dime a dozen on the internet, much like cheap ass shots like that. Thank you very much for your towering words of wisdom =)

LOL

I worked for Mek's "Video Game Museum" at http://www.vgmuseum.com since september 99 which exists way longer than RetroBase. The reason why I left and started my own thing was my unhappynes with the usual 1 title shot and 1 or 2 ingame shot style.
We all share the same basic idea, but thats it.
And why do you said CHEAP ? I consider this as an insult :(

I just have to ask. I can see the point of one screenshot for each game maybe two if you include startup screens, but 40 or even 120 for one game!
What for, what do you get out of it? Its not like your gonna have a look and buy it.

That's true, but if you're a true gamer, you'll find tremendous nostalgic value just looking at many screenshots of your favorite classic game. You know, those games that you played for days, months and haven't seen in years? Maybe it's just me, but I don't have time to play games anymore, so looking at them brings back some nice memories.

True to a point. But I have to say that the vast majority of interested parties are on dial-up. If you have the time to look at 125 screenshots for AVSP, you have the time to play the sucker.
Just my POV and I'm sure plenty may disagree with me!

I disagree with you. :)

First, maybe many are on a dial up. I'm not. At home I have DSL. At work there's a T1. I suspect that most companies employing more than 5 people have something faster than a dial up (with the exception of McDonalds, where you obviously work).

I do agree that they are a bit excessive at screenmania. But sometimes I'm in the mood to check out games on there rather than grab an emulator, look for the roms, get that running, etc. Especially at work, where I may have time to look at a few screenshots, but I can't just start up an emulator and play the day away (I wish!)

Just one thought, how much bandwith would a site like screenmania use ?

MUCH

Thats the reason why I limited the total amount of pics in KB per site to less than 150 if possible.
But CPS2 and GBA games are very hard to limit ...
