New ZSNES! - June 28,2001 by JoseQ
New ports of ZSNES for Windows and DOS are available for download from the link above, or the Emulator Download Page. For those hiding under a stone for the past few years, ZSNES is a Super NES emulator. There's tons of changes for all platforms, as well as some specific changes for the Windows port. Check out the Features area at the ZSNES website, or the included documentation for more details. Enjoy!

Why worry about SFA2 on SNES when you can have a MUCH better version on a SNES emulator...oh and the newest version is like 1.31b...but the release has been delayed for overload reasons

>Check my links? Well the link came from this very site. I cannot load the file from this site, and their homepage is down. Once it started to load real slow and I noticed a new site design, but it wouldn't let me get past the main page. Now when I try to pull it up, I just get a "page not found" message on both Netscape and IE 5.0. I guess they are still working on the page. Some people might have got lucky and been able to download once, but check the site again to see if it works now.

Hmmm.. the site is still down hours later and no one has noticed! I imagine that anyone that actually played roms left when this site stopped posting them. The only people left are the lamers that don't actually play roms and just hang around to attack anyone asking for them. It seems that they also don't even download the emulators! They just talk about them. If I ran this site, I'd have some fun with these people, posting some fake emulators for Dreamcast and PS2. No one here would ever catch on that they aren't real.

> You have the site all wrong, it is a site far from your comprehension. You try to make fun of a site you can't even understand. The People in the Zsnes site dont care about stupid "graphics", and new emulation products, instead they like to talk about their favorite games ig: Tales of Phantasia, and compare them to new age games and rpgs, for the people of zsnes care about gameplay, not graphics. Also they talk about patches Dejap makes so if you down the zsnes site, you also down dejap

It seems that the site's a little slow, but I've not had any problems getting to it myself. Perhaps whether it's "down" or not depends on the website's route to your ISP - this is a common problem on the Internet.

Well, lemme amend what I just said. I have no trouble getting to the ZSNES site, but it appears that something wiped out virtually everything on the site except for the very front-end pages. Perhaps they're reorganizing the site, or it's fallen victim to either a strict webhost or a hacker or something...

Or perhaps the people who run the site are just being mean to us. :P

Is there any other websites that would actually have this emulator on their site? Cause the link is down and apparently so is the ZSNES webpage. I've tried both Netscape and IE 5.0 with no luck.

It doesn't really need Kaillera for Network support, because it already has Network support through the program itself. All you have to do is load a ROM, and go back to the Zsnes GUI, and start the Network through the Network (might be Internet now, it is in the Windows version) list and select some options, and play with others!

Man, Zsnes is REALLY getting some quick updates since the Open Source came out! I can't wait until the post if it survives that far (and hopefully it will!), that says "We've done it! Zsnes is now 100% PERFECTLY Compatible with ALL dumps of ANY SNES Rom!" Man, that will be a GREAT day for SNES emulation players!

Hmm, Street Fighter Alpha 2 doesn't work, what else still needs support?

I think it's mega man X2. Can't remember though. Regardless the list of supported games far outweighs the maybe 3 or 4 games that can't be played. Open source seems to have done wonders for this emulator.. good before.. even better now. I was SO happy when they got Metal Combat: Falcon's Revenge working.. that was one of the few good super scope games [that i've played at least], I played that thing to death before my SNES AC adapter bit the dust. I think the emulator's sound code is still a little bit off.. but other than that it's better than a real SNES.

Mega Man X2 is supported (and working, as well as Mega Man X3) already. It's probably been working I think since Zsnes version 1.0. I was happy when they got Metal Combat working too! It's a GREAT game! eah, some of the games need some sound work, like Mario RPG and some others, but other than that, it seems to be pretty accurate.

As was said before, several japanese games are still unsupported. Marvellous and Traverse, for example.

(...Traverse is unplayable because of a rom bug - although it works on real SNES, the bug causes ZSNES to freeze... :-7 )
