Modeler adds F1 Exhaust - June 29,2001 by JoseQ
It seems ShinobiZ is not as retired as we though, as his contributions (as well as Coy's) have resulted in the addition of "F1 Exhaust Note" to the Modeler emulator. Not only that, the game is also fully playable and with sound! In the usual fashion, new screenshots have been made available at the Modeler website (Gallery section) so be sure to check it out, they sure look nice! Thanks to D@Z for the news.

ShinobiZ is my personal hero. After to create the great System16 emulator he is helping the excelent too Modeler crew to develop the long waited System32 emu. Claps to him.

I'm glad they're choosing not to release Modeler until it's in good working order. I know of too many buggy emulators, and it just causes the authors a lot of headaches when they get thousands of emails which describe the same problems, or threats if they don't fix them... Plus users now get a quality product. It's nice to see :) I'm sure when the emulator is matured, releases will not take so long because when features are added, it won't break the emulator or cause long sessions of testing to be done.

Good job :)

JQ has been on vacation this week as all of us are entitled to once in a awhile.

As for being moderated...JQ isn't the only one with that kind of power here. There are several Mods that were enlisted to police the site from time to time.

With the comments I've seen on this page of people bashing the Modeler authors I wouldn't want to release it at all even if it were perfect. These guys did bring us Impact which works perfect on my machine with a little tweaking. These guys have a life other than creating the perfect Modeler emulator for us to use free. Sit back and relax enjoy the 3000 arcades you can play now for free now and wait.

Lucky us you're not on the modeller team.

it at all even if it were perfect. These guys did bring us Impact which works perfect on my machine with a little tweaking.

Look up "perfect". Sound IS severely f*cked up.

Im using a Sound Blaster 512 and Im very happy
with the sound as far as music goes. ( Your are correct about the sound not being absolutly perfect I'll give you that but the only problem with sound I have is the voices are way to fast.

Don't we just love it when you throw a fireball with Ryu and you hear Chunli dying when playing Impact !!! Netherless, it's still a good emulator and so will modeler be.

Enough to make me want to turn off sound altogether. Not only too fast but also the wrong codes, most notably in sfex2/p
And there are certain severe issues with graphics as well, eg. in Excel mode. Not sure if these are core or plugin related issues tho.

Actually, since I rarely if ever play it I couldn't care less. And there's always different ports to resort to. Just in case someone likes those games. BTW, "perfect" is a non-comparable (is that English?) adjective, meaning there is no such thing as "less" or "more" or "absolutely" perfect. It either is or it's not. Period.
Cheers

Well it seems my original comments were completly lost in a sea of gamers with no respect to authors of these emulators. Oh! You are very correct about the word perfect but who cares. Hey at least I,m going to bed smarter thanks to Oh so intelligent you. Speaking of adjectives and all that good stuff why dont you give me a lesson in grammar we might as well completely miss the point!!

Subject: On release dates...
From: dsl-64-130-183-9.telocity.com
Ed has a really good point in his post below: If you guys got a promised release date for Modeler, and the Modeler team wasn't able to meet that promised date, then the Modeler team could expect to be inundated with messages like "Where is Modeler?", "Why hasn't Modeler been released yet??", "You guys are fakes/idiots/jerks/etc.", and so on.

By not promising a release date, the team has full control over what goes into the release and who benefits by it. You all need to remember that emulating a game system, whether it be an old video game or a newer, higher-powered system, is NOT easy work! Since most of these people don't and haven't worked for the companies that designed these systems in the first place, they have to rely on documentation (that often is incomplete, inaccurate or difficult to work with), and LOTS of guess-work, trial-and-error, and intensive research.

It takes time to do these things, guys. Modeler is emulating a pretty difficult system. Stop pestering the emu team - the more you bother them about a release, the longer it's likely to take.

we have 2 options about modeler :

1)it will be a pay-2-have emulator like VgbaWin(i really don't think so, 4 many reasons)

2)it will be the GREATEST 2001 release in the emulation world, along with the cps2 crazyness of some months ago.

I have always followed this rather impossible project from the start(just think System 18 and 24 are not emulated) and these guys came from nowhere and delivered the goods.

Everyone has 1 think 2 do: wait and enjoy the final release, when it will happen(and it WILL happen rather soon),the emu will be perfect and fantastic 2 play with.

As some guys says, keep up the great work!

well, actually System 18 is partially emulated, but just the bootlegs (hence Moon Walker)

Why do you ask such stupid questions? THink about it ... Say the Modeler team says there will be a release Sunday. Something happens and they ar unable to release it. All these idiots out here would be grilling the Modleer team with "you are a fake" or "where is Modeler" questions.

so what sort of answer are you expecting to a question like 'when are they going to release it?'....
if they were putting a date on it, don't you think u would have heard about it already...

So many people out there are so OVER-SERVICED! Why should these guys be coding software FOR YOU?
They are working on an emulator; they appear to be kind enough to make it available for free once it is done; and they are also kind enough to keep us all up to date with their progress... all at no cost to ourselves...
AND STILL PEOPLE GRIPE...

I work in customer service/tech support and let me tell you, it is my experience that so many people are too damn DEMANDING! Get some perspective! You are one tiny person out of a global population of about 6 billion... no matter how important you are to yourself, you don't mean shit to me, and why should you mean shit to the guys working on modeler?

How on earth do you justify making demands on how they spend their own time; or what they do with the products of their own time and effort.
Just because you may be interested in what they are doing, doesn't mean they have to cater to your desires.

So to all those whiners complaining about no release date for modeler I say: personally I would prefer it if you just fucked off and died, but i understand that just cos i may WANT you to do that, doesn't mean you HAVE to do it....
but it certainly would be a lot more pleasant to follow the development of an interesting emulator such as modeler if you whingers just SHUT * THE * FUCK * UP *

Cheerio
Shaun
