Mimic WIP! - July 05,2001 by JoseQ
As you can see, I'm back. I had some vacations planned from last Friday up until yesterday, thus the lack of updates. Sorry about not letting everyone know before-hand but it was quite hectic for a few days leading to that vacation. Anyhow, I've caught with everything and I'm back to update as usual. The first bit of news I've found from today come from Australia, where Mike Beaver posted an update about Mimic detailing his latest progress... Mimic now has keyboard support again, which possibly triggered some side effects but it's still a 'big leap towards a release'. Other things in the update include the addition of scrolling to the NES driver, and a bug fix in the arcade driver which limited it to 10 ROMs. There's just a handful of things before Mike decides to make a release public, so hang on for that in the near future.

JoseQ, why do you host that lame SCDPowe site?...The guy said nearly a year ago that he'd be back in a couple of weeks. Tell him to get his shit back on or you'll stop hosting him.

Me and many more people I know are no longer posting on emuviews, due 2 censeropship by some complete prat, who has nothing better 2 then sit on there ass all day looking at the comments page and deleting posts, its a free world if some1 dosn't like an emulator there until 2 say so, but oh no the moronanter has 2 delete it. I agree posts pretending 2 be joseq or being abuse 2 joseq should be removed but thing for example I don't like cps2 emulation 'SHOULD NOT BE DELETED'. Besides there many much more abusive letters on retrogames and atilla dosn't delete them.

Two things to say to this: (1) This isn't Retrogames. What Atilla does with his board has no bearing on what happens here.

(2) Speaking just for myself (I don't know if I'm the one who censored your post or not), I've found that the need to delete posts has gone down dramatically since JoseQ appointed moderators for the board. I thought we'd all explained right at the start that everyone is free to express their opinions, positive and negative, and that they could do so without fear of being censored, banned or what not.

The difference comes when those posts turn offensive. As JoseQ mentioned below, censorship occurs when your post ceases to be just "I don't agree with this" and "The emu/author/whatever sucks" to being a blatant flame post. We *can* tell the difference in most cases. We're trying to promote freedom of speech and expression without letting the boards degrade to the open flame wars that prompted the first temporary shutdown of this site several months ago.

Not to mention letting the boards degrade to the lowly status of boards on numerous other emu sites, where the boards are either unmoderated, or the moderators simply don't care.

Just let me know which news items you were censored from and I'll check it out. I do keep track of all deleted posts, so I'll take a look around and see if I can find out why they were deleted.

Well a lot of the anti dayvee/gayvee(final burn author posts, It was like I read them and later they where gone, and they where all pro dayvee posts, Jus joshins seems 2 get his posts deleted a fair bit the same as shigsy, I mean if contrevisal posts are going 2 bring more people 2 the site isn't that a good thing publicity wise. But I do agree the poster who was posting pretending 2 be u is wrong, and posts like that deserve deleting, after all they destroyed the message board

Well, the moderators are instructed to only delete insulting/offenssive posts. You can say 'Dave sucks, his emulator is crap...'etc etc.

However, if you say 'Dave sucks my !@!), his momma has !@)!@)!! me, and I will !@*#*$$ Dave' then that makes no sense, and it is bound to be deleted.

If you want to be controversial, do it without recurring to offenssive language. That doesn't go well with my site. I'm picky about vocabulary, so just try to keep it clean, and I'll make sure your posts are kept online.

JQ,

An entire thread was recently deleted on the modeler news item below this one. However the first post on that comments board survived despite the poster stating clearly that he wishes to "f#@$ the modeler team". To his credit the poster doesnt mention his momma but this matter clearly needs addressing since it may be confusing for those posters whose messages are being deleted.
